Any Speedy ideas ?

Can anyone help me with a little conundrum?

My Mileometer has stopped working. No miles are being recorded.

The speedo works perfectly - and against a sat nav is quite accurate.

I think the speedo works electrically from a sensor near the gearbox.

Is the mileometer cable driven ?

What route does it take ?

How do I check it/Investigate ?

Next question ..... how easy/impossible is it to get the speedo out. Do I need to remove the dashboard (he says filled with abject terror !)

So far I’ve completely failed to get any car time at all in the last few weeks.

I did mange an in depth consultation with Tony over a cheeky breakfast.

It stopped working during heavy rain. And my car, it will surprise you to know, leaks.

So I’m going to wait until it’s dry and warm. Attack the dash vigorously with a hair dryer. And then drive over cats eyes and rumble strips and undertaken some precision tapping.

If that fails, I’ll be trying to persuade someone with experience to help me take the dashboard out.
