Hi there,

My father has an opportunity to buy a local V8S and with there being so few sold recently and none that I can see for sale I wondered if you kind owners/enthusiasts could give an idea on its value.

The car is Maroon with Cream (Biscuit) Leather. It's been dry stored, covered and ran one or twice a year (around the block) in the last 15 years and covered only 38k miles. The body and interior are very good with it doing so few miles. The outriggers show some surface rust in the joints etc. but overall quite good. The car needs tyres & brakes renewing and of course a full major service.
Last MOT was well over 10 years ago and no history since sold by David Gerald TVR in 2003.

I appreciate it's not ideal to give a figure without seeing the car but any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the replies. Specialist isn't really an option as no-one really local and my father is pretty handy with the spanners.

Lets say worst case scenario is body off and a chassis tidy up. The body & interior are very very good. I was thinking £8k. £10k is not too far away but it's got no MOT and needs new tyres, brakes etc. to make for a safe drive. Does £8k sound reasonable?

It's been a good few years since I had my TVR so i'm a little out of touch with values. Seems a couple sold last year for £10-12k, however they were both maintained cars although with higher miles.

Chassis looks fairly good with a little tidying required, lots of red paint still present. Windscreen delaminating (large patch) in bottom drivers corner so will need to budget for that. A few paint chips that have taken place while being manoeuvred in and out of the garage over the years but apart from that the paint looks original with its V8S factory pinstripes along the bottom of the car. Running Chimaera Alloys which seem quite common although not sure they were an option on the V8S? Drivers side bonnet catch seems to problematic and not catching. Owner is going to oil and have a fiddle to ensure all is ok. Hood needs a good clean and possibly a Renovo treatment. Interior is very clean and as you would expect of a 38k mile car that hasn't been used for 15 years.

Popping round again on Tuesday to hear it running and take it around the block. Battery has been off the car and the owner wants to charge it and run though a few checks before firing it up again.

Fingers crossed there's a deal to be had.

Thanks for the info guys. wink

Thanks. Good info re hydraulic & fuel lines. Re brakes, new discs & pads with a possible overhaul of the calipers would be done.

HHC S3 looks good although I think the V8S with its low build numbers and uprated bits will always carry a good premium over the V6 Cars.

Some great info, thanks.

Father notified and will be joining the forum promptly. I'm sure he'll announce himself in due course and no doubt be scouring previous discussions for info and tips.

Car finally picked up today by my father and he's decided it's not for him... Too raw compared to the V8 Mercs he's been cruising around in for the past few years!

He enjoys stripping and rebuilding things/cars, so his plan is full chassis check over and repair if required, new suspension, brakes, major service and clean, refurbish & renew anything else that needs doing along the way.

If anyone is looking for a low mileage (38k) V8S in the near future then shout up. wink

I'm sure there's a deal to be done if genuinely interested. His only expenditure is a TVR Club Membership at £60 sorted earlier today.

He's retired and likes his days tinkering in the garage.

To be fair, I had a good look around the car today and it looks very well, much like a 38k mile car should. Interior is lovely and very few marks on the bodywork. Chassis looks very good too on first impression.
He's not looking at making big bucks on the car, more interested in the project without losing money.
