Fitting a trickle charger lead

Just bought an airflow trickle charger and want to know the best route to fitting it.I want it to come into the cabin,and hard wired to the battery,or to where?Then I can hang the charger on the steering wheel,so to remind me to dis-connct before running the car.I guess the cigarette lighter is only on when the ignition is on.Cheers all

Right,checked with a test meter and the ciggie socket is dead.I suppose I can rewire the socket as neither me or her smoke,or wire it direct into the ignition side somehow and buy a proper connector which can be fitted to under the steering column.Fitting under the wing would be fine for me,but for the dappy women,who sometimes takes the car to work would be a no no.
