Hi all,

Whilst doing the last repair work to my outrigger, I decided to open up my one and only silencer to see what was rattling. It was the bit of metal from the underside of the silencer that had rusted.

Before I repack and weld it closed, has anyone sleeved an S2 exhaust? I know it's been done a lot on chimeras but not seen or heard of it done on an S series. Considering it's got the perforated tube there I am thinking to cut it out and weld a tube in. But, leaving the sections either side of the front and rear dividers in the hope that retains the distinctive TVR deep rumble.......

So has anyone done it? How does it sound? Any reccomendations from anyone?

Thanks

This is how the internals look on my silencer. The idea is to take the perforated pipe out and replace with a solid one. Replace the pipes the other side of the divider with a drilled out replica pipe to retain originality. Then repack with wadding and close up. Any suggestions before I attempt this next week?

Or would people suggest leave as it is? I like the sound, but would like it marginally louder but keeping the distinctive TVR deep rumble.

Thanks

I've also got a stainless steel system, but it doesn't sound anywhere near as lovely as the one in the pic that was on the car when I got it. Guess it'll be trial and probably error lol......

No doubt I'll probably end up opening it back up again to put the perforated tube back in ha ha.

Thanks anyway both of you for feedback.

I'll try full sleeve first and then see how it goes.

Thanks again

Well...... it's been sleeved, welded shut, refitted to the car, and sounds great. But to be honest I don't think it sounds any different to before.

Next week when I'm back I'll take a video and put it on you tube, then put a link on here.
