Hi all , dash is coming out tomorrow for refurb , reveneer etc . I've been giving some serious thought though to Powder coating both dash pieces and door strips in that nice crinkly Matt finish you see on Ferrari rocker covers ( and phillpots rocker covers I believe ) .
Has anyone tried this or had thoughts about trying this ?

Fair comments , don't really know what to do with the dash , the dark wood veneer looks ste and I'm just about fed up with it ...........

Wow !! Well I did ask for thoughts and ideas . Some very interesting stuff . You're right Mike , i saw the crinkle effect on an MG a while back and thought it looked good .
I'm just not too sure I want wood effect anymore. I don't mind spending money to get professional powder coating done or proper veneering .
Just took the dash out .....first time it's ever been out .....that was fun .
TVR .... they're idea of build quality was , how can I put it .....interesting .

Themee.... That's just how I thought the finish would look . I like that a lot .
Cheers for posting those photos , I think I might give it a go with the powder coating.

Lightish grey leather seats and dash fascia and blue leather dash top . I think I might go for a slightly lighter shade of grey for the dash than yours and I want to do the door strips in the same .
I think it may look nice . If it doesn't it's no major issue to get it changed.

Further update , decided against the powder coating idea and dash will be on its way to be reveneered . I think I maybe just had a downer on the wood finish because my one was very dark and very flaky and generally looked rubbish.
Anyway cheers for all the replies and sorry to have wasted everyone's time !

Just to finish off this thread I started , here are some pictures of my finished and reveneered dash finally fitted .
Malc at London carriage craft did the work and all I can say is its stunningly good , honestly the pictures don't do the work justice , the finish is as smooth as glass.
I can thoroughly recommend him , no connection, just very satisfied.
Be aware , it's quite pricey ,BUT it's the old adage if you want quality you pay for it .

Whilst the dash was out I took the opportunity to fit wide angle LED filaments to all the gauges. White happy with these.

All in all happy , worth the anger , swearing and cut arms and hands !!

Thank you Stu ,
I did talk to Malcolm who did the job , regarding the different expansion of the metal and veneer and he said he hadn't had a return due to this issue , and he's done plenty !
To be honest , I personally don't know the answer to that question , sorry .

Well I'm kind of hoping to use the car a lot more otherwise I may end up getting shot of it from lack of usage. I've only done around a 1000 miles in the last four years !
That said, I do enjoy working on it and being left alone in peace , it's quite therapeutic in a wierd kind of way .
Time to get driving I think . Definitely with the top down .
