Today I took my modified 1989 S2 for a dyno run at Motorsport Developments, near the old factory. The key figures are : max flywheel BHP 193.4 @ 6250 rpm (loud!) ; max flywheel torque 199.6. Using the factory figures from my original handbook, those numbers are +15% and +17%. If the handbook dry weight figure of 940kg is correct, that equates to about 206 bhp per tonne.
How does that compare with others who have modified the 2.9 Cologne engine but left it naturally aspirated?

Briefly, the main mods are :
Full stage 2 rebuild many years ago by Specialised Engines in Essex, including fast-road cam, enlarged inlet/outlet valves, gas-flowed head and full engine balance. 15,000 miles since then.
Stainless manifolds & downpipes by RT Racing, about 15 years ago.
Factory free-flow stainless exhaust (bought 1997, still going!)
Magnecor ignition leads.
Recent new air-meters by Bosch ( £500, eek! )
Timing adjustment by Heath at XWorks (increased to 14 degrees advance).

Here's the data printout :

I did say at the start that I was specifically asking about modifying the 2.9 Cologne engine. At the risk of stating the obvious, OF COURSE your V8s and Jaguars and other significantly different engines are more powerful !!

Please be assured I didn't take it as criticism : I was just trying to re-focus the thread.

The big difference between your figures & mine is flywheel versus wheels. In reply to your question on another thread, the dyno did also give wheels figures, which reveal the gulf between us : BHP 154.4, torque 157.
