Front shock absorbers

One of my front shock absorbers is leaking. The car only gets light road use in the summer, no track use. I've checked the alternative parts list and it shows Gaz or Avo, are there any others available?

Hi Adrian, thanks for the prompt reply. My problem lies with a leaky front shock, ironically it passed it's MOT today with an advisory but I'd like to get it sorted. To be honest I'm not sure what make they are. I've just spoken with Shaun at SP Suspension (thanks for his number) and what he suggested was to take them off, look for any form of identification and then contact him or send him a photo and then take it from there. Once again thanks for the replies. I think for me to move forward my first task is to identify exactly what's on the car at present (thanks Adrian for the tips of where and what to look for). Once I know what I'm dealing with I can have a chat with Shaun at SP Suspension and take it from there. If he can't help I maybe back in touch. Thanks again.

Thanks Philpott. Re Protech, I'm sure I've read on a previous pistonheads post of yours that you fitted them to your S3 and were happy with them? Can I ask, did you buy direct from Protech or a third party and do you have any reference numbers? Yes I have looked at the suspension wiki thread but unfortunately I couldn't find any really up to date info, which is what I was after. I do look at the Facebook group page daily and it's OK but to be honest for a more serious discussion I much prefer the Pistonheads threads, perhaps it's my age!

Thread resurrection/update.

Front shock absorbers have been sorted. After removing them I found out they were manufactured by AVO, who as Adrian pointed out no longer exist. However Shaun, from SP Suspension, gave me the number of Turbo Technics who are based in Northampton and able to refurbish AVO shock absorbers (ask for Neil). They took about 2 weeks at a total cost for the 2 shock absorbers including VAT and delivery of £182.40. Just fitted them and driven the car and all appears fine.
