Following on from my previous thread about my boot release, I was wondering whether any S3s might be in the Bracknell area one lunchtime this week?

The reason that I'm asking is that I'd be interested to take a look at a functioning boot solenoid so that I can compare it to my non-functioning one. My evenings are pretty chocka with a new baby around, hence my lunchtime request.

I've also requested an S3 specifically as I understand that the S1 and S2 have a mechanical boot release, and that the S4/V8S mechanism is hidden in the battery compartment, but I'm more than happy to be corrected (as if fairly likely with the TVR pic'n'mix system ).

Cheers,

Richard

Thanks for the offers of the pics guys. I'll certainly take you up on them, and if I find a solution in the mean time I'll be sure to post a message to that effect.

Having found the missing link (quite literally, as detailed on the other thread) I now really just need to ascertain what the solenoid should look like at rest. I have a nasty suspicion that I knackered it with my over-zealous button pressing.

I did find the emergency release Tony. It'd slipped down some way out of reach, but is now securely back in place. I've also temporarily rigged it where I can get to it easily so that I can still get easy access to the boot while the solenoid's out of action.

Shnozz,

Thanks for the offer, but I won't be able to make it this weekend as I already have commitments. In fact, the S is garage-bound most weekends due to family duties (particularly with a newish baby!), although I do get the odd trip in e.g. V.W., especially if the weather's good.

It'd still be good to meet up with you guys some time though, and put some faces to the names, having enjoyed your various postings over time. As you say, it's not a long run over to Compton, and I used to live around Grayshott and go to college in Godalming, so I know the area quite well.

Thanks again for the offer, and also for your other help with this problem.

Richard

Edited as I just realised I've been spelling Shnozz's name wrong.
