Anyone out there from the Hampshire area?

Am desperately trying to fund the purchase of an S series at present but would be great to meet up with some people to find out more about the cars from owners that know what they are like to live with already. I have looked at the Hampshire TVRCC and see where they meet up so will try and get to that. Would be great to meet some other owners and maybe go for a blast etc. I live in Southampton but happy to travel reasonable distance.

cheers

cheers all - will try and make it to Virginia Water to see you and your faces (and motors) in the flesh. have steve heath's book already and v pleased i bought it before i start looking - invaluable! just wish i had the money ready and waiting - long story re getting stitched by ex! i dont really want to buy an S on a shoestring as it will be my only car and will need to be in a position to pay for repairs/maintenence if it goes wrong!

cheers matt - much obliged

I will e-mail you as soon as something lined up - a knowledgeable eye would be excellant - it will be my only car so cannot afford to buy a dog.

dont see too many S's around southampton so luckily nothing sat in my face shouting "credit card, bank loan, 2nd mortgage" so trying to hold out til bonus time at end of financial year!

cheers matt - no doubt will speak more when the time arrives - hopefully sooner rather than later - will also take you up on the offer re mechanic as dont want to pay silly money plus drive for 1/2 a day to find someone.

have been up to adrian blyth to have a look and some nice machinery. only problem was that buying from a dealer would only delay matters further as would need to find another £2k - £3k, or buy an older model which doesnt strike me as a good idea with everyone saying get as later one as possible.

funny that you bought an MGF since the Tiv, I sold my F last December as needed money for a house asap. good car, but performance a bit dosile and v dodgy handling in the wet if pushed. (or is that just me!) balance just didnt seem quite right with the mid-engined set up and once it started to slide there was no going back.........!

thanks chaps - interesting to get a comparison with the F Matt - gives me an idea as to what to expect. Must say i am surprised what you say about the 2 performance wise on a country lane.

Martin, would love to say i am interested in buying but unless I finance myself up then its not possible at the moment. Whilst i have done finance in the past, it scares me a bit with a car that may well cost me a few bob each month to run as an everyday car. Still, be good to meet up to have a look and timing may be good that i could have the money when you find a replacement. Are you going to the meet at Virginia Waters?
