Posted in the Lounge rather than Midlands as those in the Midlands probably know. (and it's a general debate about our towns)

Other than having a greater chance than usual of being shot, Nottingham is such a great place! I've just been out for a mooch in this fabulous February sunshine.

I really love this place. Do you love your city? Post us up some pics.

Here's a few of the city I love

Your camera angles have carefully cut out most of the people. Don't forget also that Nottingham is an equal opportunities city, you are just as likely to be stabbed.

Nottingham, home of the Trip to Jerusalem, a fabulous hostelry.

I believe at one time it was also home to a Hooters bar.
Hooters still going strong (apparently...just in case g/f looks hehe)

The Trip, a great place.

Still has a Hooters.

It's where I'll be tomorrow for the all you can eat wings.

Then off to watch the big match.

Have you found an out of date disco biscuit in your sock drawer 2 sMoKiN bArReLs? You seem remarkably loved up in the city department.

I've been in Nottingham for 25 years this year and am plotting my escape.

I am indeed feeling the love hehe

Grew up in Nottingham, in fact you have a photo of the entrance to where I lived.
I loved the place. I left in 1988 and moved into Derbyshire, I was very homesick and went back at every chance.
Not been back for 4 or 5 years now.
Cool story bro etc.

Yes, a great city. I went back for a visit last year, the trams are amazing, I feel safe walking around the city centre. They had some weird robins scattered about at the time.
The Robin trail. Was very popular. Sold them all off in the end. Bristol had an Ardman similar thing going on.

Is that the 3rd photo down and is it the Park? Or Mapperley Park?

Or did you live in the Cornerhouse cinema?
Tis the Park, just beyond the Castle. I do spend a lot of time in Langtry's opposite the Corner House hehe

I was at Antalya on Wednesday night, about next door to Langtry's. I'd been to RSC's Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet at the Theatre Royal. Proper highbrow me.

I used to frequent a pub called Langtry's. Over the road from the theatre. I spent more time in the Turf Tavern next door-ish though.
I was barred from the Turf hehe

It's now the Hop Merchant.

Live between Notts and Sheffield

Have to say Nottingham is preferable in almost all ways.

Hooters has absolutely nothing to do with that.
Sheffield always strikes me as a strange place. It never seems (to me) to have a proper town centre.

Spent 8 years in Nottingham and really grew an affection for the place, despite its issues (which are by no means unique). Will always be a special place for me.

Great jukebox in the Turf.
What was the name of the other one there, I think you could get in off Parliament St or Forman St(?). The bell or similar.

That's it, proper town centre local. There used to be lots, I expect they're all long gone now.

It's not my home and I didn't care much for it when I first moved down to the east midlands, but over time I have warmed and you're right. It a pretty good city centre. Lots of pretty cool, unique bars and restaurants, cool stuff like escape rooms and a new VR experience place thats just opened in, I think, the INTU Victoria centre. We did that the other weekend and it was awesome.

Parents just been down from home this weekend (home is M'boro). They love it, lots of good shopping, lots of good bars for cocktails, places for coffee. We randomly stumbled into a nice Tapas place for dinner after the planned Vietnamese place was too busy and then we went to watch the Ice Hockey at the motorpoint. A great time.

Often good stuff at the theatre as well. Went to see Jurassic Park with a full Orchestra playing the soundtrack. Next up is Back to the Future! Seen Brian Cox as well.

Its good around Christmas too when they build that ice-rink and have it all decked out like a ski resort. In summer they put the fake beach out, though I could do less with having all the parents bringing their kids for a free day out playing in the fountain/water feature at the other end. I am surprised they allow it, its not a swimming pool.

But all in... Its really not a bad city to spend some time. I don't go every weekend mind, maybe once or twice a month, so maybe I don't see the uglier side. But rarely see any real trouble going on and people are generally pleasant.

Plus, there is a wicked little pub just up from the fountain/water feature, past Pie Minster, that has a proper good little scalextric setup out back.

It's my home city too, born and bred Southwell. A bit further away now, being in a village between Mansfield and Chesterfield, but I still get out there on occasions. I loath shopping, so not for that, but the odd night out, be it bars or food. The last time we ate out in Nottingham was the Calcutta Club on Maid Marion Way, god that was an amazing curry.

Isn't the Shottingham reputation all down to battling between St Annes and The Meadows? Two dumps I would never wish to step foot in to.
Calcutta Club is awesome. Four curry houses all adjacent, so they need to keep their game up I guess.
