SATURDAY 3RD NOVEMBER

Who is SERIOUSLY up for doing a kart race with other PHers on SATURDAY 3RD NOVEMBER before Christmas budgeting rears its head.

I organised such a thing a few years ago and it was excellent fun, with much good-humoured piss-taking, crashes and larks. Certainly brightened a rather gloomy November day, made better by it being all PHers. It's pretty easy to do and everything is provided unless you want to bring your own helmet etc. As with all karting ideas on forums everywhere, people started off enthusiastic and then we only just scraped together enough to cover the booking, so you can imagine that I'd prefer only serious people to add their name.

I was thinking Speedway Karting Centre in Weston Super Mare.
  • £30 each
  • Minimum booking of 10 people split into teams of two
  • 90 minute race, so approx 45 mins driving time per person
If you're seriously interested, please add your name below.

No, we went to Cheddar (South West Karting). It seems at Weston you would get more kart-time as it's teams of 2 instead of 3.

PS. You're still alive then. biggrin How's the missus and nipper?

Funnily enough, I'm right on the North Dorset / south Somerset border near Yeovil. Happy to give a lift.

Looks like Saturday 3rd is the day most people can make, and the circuit are rarely open on Sundays.

  • 1 1/2 hour race.
  • £30 per driver
  • 10 drivers with teams of 2 (45 mins driving per driver)
  • Start at 4pm
  • Go to pub afterwards for food and talk about my crashes
I will have to pay a £10 per driver deposit upfront, with the rest paid by you (and deposit paid back to me!) on the day.

Is this ok?

Ok, so I've chosen Saturday 3rd November, at about 4pm at Speedway Karting Centre in Weston Super Mare.

I haven't booked it yet as I'll wait a day or two now to see who else might be interested.

1. V8S + 1
2. B3ndy
3. Obi
4. morgs
5. Kodiak
6. High flier
7. MotorsportTom
8. benjiegsi
9. AndyRGM

Hi chaps,

I've booked 4pm for Saturday 3rd Nov and need to pay the deposit tomorrow morning.

Ideally need 12 people confirmed.

It seems to be £35 now, despite it saying £30 on their website.

Even though I have a PayPal account, I have no idea how you would pay me through that.

As long as everyone actually turns up, I'm happy to get the deposit on the day.

Hi chaps,

Eventually got the deposit paid for 12 people. That's £120 which I'd like to see again. biggrin

4pm - SATURDAY 3RD NOVEMBER

Speedway Karting Centre, Winterstoke Road, Weston Super Mare, BS24 9AA

http://www.speedwaykartingcentre.co.uk

£35 per person on the day

Spectators welcome

We can add drivers without more deposits, but as they have a finite number of karts they'll most likely make some teams into 3 people.

Please could everyone on the list send me an email through my PH profile so I can keep in touch. I don't want people forgetting about it. Mobile number would be great too.

Cheers.

PLEASE NOTE

I've just been advised by Highflier that they do have helmets and gloves at the karting place, but not overalls.

So, please dress in warm clothes you don't mind getting mucky and smelling of fumes.

Clay Pigeon seems to be £55 for 1/2 hour driving per driver, based on their standard rates.

I think 3/4 of an hour per driver was a good length of time at the place in Weston.

It does say call about tailoring, but it's likely to be much more. I'll enquire in the next week or so.
