Also posted in holiday and travel but though i'd try the regional side too.

I'm going to Woolacombe for a weeks holiday in October and was hoping any fellow PHer could recommend places to go and see or actives to do.

We're looking at go ape but wondering if there's anything else.

What are you looking for?

North Devon has some dramatic coastline with the SW Coastpath, Exmoor on the doorstep & some beautiful beaches. Also some great driving roads.

Shopping wise you'll struggle, Atlantic Village is crap I think (never been) & theren't really any large towns as such.

Valley of the Rocks is worth a visit, as are Lynton & Lynmouth. Clovelly is a go to destination too, never actually been myself. Ilfracombe worth a visit, if only to see Verity!

Head down to Tintagel to see the home of King Arthur, Nectans Glen etc?

We're definitely not looking at shopping more outdoor stuff such as walks, beaches, etc. i think we're going to do a cycle route https://www.tarkabikes.co.uk/trail-routes but yeh just things to keep us occupied and well if i can slip in a few bits of driving road routes then i won't say no so any of those you can suggest i can make sure to make a diversion onto them haha!

byebye We are Woolacombe/Lee bay based, hope you enjoy it here smile

October is a great time of the year, but a little awkward as most "interesting" places have just closed down for the year.

However, valley of the rocks, south west coast path, Bull point lighthouse, Lee bay beach and the grampus, Broomhill sculpture gardens.

If you want any restaurant recommendations etc, just shout smile
I did send you a PM for things to go and do but not sure if you got it but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone, we are unfortunately back from Devon now. We had such a great time down there it's such a pretty part of the UK. Big thanks to sidekickdmr for answering all my questions you were really helpful with all your suggestions! I think we will be going back at some point next year hopefully in late spring / summer time so fully enjoy the beaches and walks.

We went to Lynn & Lynmouth and went down the victorian lift which was great fun and really interesting to see how it works, that little town is really beautiful and had a lovely cream tea there even if it was close to £20!!!

Went down to Lee which i don't think i will ever do again. Driving down a single lane and when i say single i mean we passed walkers with a dog who had to climb a bank into a bush so i could get past single wasn't fun. I was petrified my car would get scratched or hit by someone / tractor going like 40mph and coming round a corner so yeh that wasn't fun but the rest was awesome!
