Cornwall Cars & Coffee - St Mawes
Discussion
Would any Cornish PHers be interested in a regular Cars & Coffee style event in St Mawes on the south coast?
There are some great cars resident out here (a pre-war Bentley, an Aston DB4, numerous Ferraris etc) and obviously lots of great modern stuff around Truro but seemingly nothing other than one event a year to gather at (St Mawes classic rally usually attended by David Richards and Nick Mason, amongst others).
St Mawes is a fantastic 20-30 minute drive from Truro and only 45-50 minutes from Hayle or Padstow/Wadebridge and there’s now a great coffee van at St Mawes Castle.
Anyone interested?

Agreed, and particularly in light of tonight’s news!
These things tend to go best with a car club at the heart. Are there any Porsche/Ferrari/TVR/Lotus/MG/Mini/Jaguar clubs which are particularly active around Cornwall?
I have a few cars which tend to attract interest to bring down (F430 Spider, 1954 MGTF, 599 GTB and something else joining soon) and friends with other interesting things.

Great car! Would love to see it.
I'll enlist some family members to drive - I keep a 1954 MG TF, F430 Spider and 599 GTB in St Mawes and will have something else to bring along before lockdown finishes.
I'm going to set up an Instagram profile for this to see if we can gather a little momentum but guess timing is likely to be Spring. Will publish that to the Facebook groups so do let me know if there any I need to hit that you check out or are well used.
PS saw a lovely new GT4 on the road today - will see if I can find the owner.

TVR has a good gathering there.
Are you down this way Softtop? Will email Andrew Honey but do let me know if there's anyone else I should speak to: http://www.tvrcc-cornwall.co.uk/contact.htmlHi Twinchoke,
That would be great. Is the group quite active? Modern/older or a mixture?
I don’t want to push water uphill but I think something regular that brings clubs etc together could be a lot of fun.
There are so many great cars tucked up in garages that don’t get enough of a run-out and I think a LOT of cars and owners would come out of the woodwork if they knew it was happening reliably and on a regular basis.

Put a few single-make groups together and Robert’s your mother’s brother.
If the weather’s dry, the lower car park at St Mawes Castle is great: scenic, plenty of space and has a coffee van (in the upper car park).
If it’s not so dry, Sam’s on the Roseland has a big gravel car park and it’s an easy drive from anywhere mid-Cornwall.

Doesn’t have to be on the Roseland of course!

I wasn’t getting much response so didn’t check back in! Glad you got out to St Mawes and that you had a good run. Roads are fantastic when they’re quiet.
I had the F430, 599 abs Corniche all out at various points over the weekend and saw a lot of nice kit/keen drivers in other things. Just needs some proper thought and a little PR and it would work.
On the other hand, a good central meet around Truro would work very well if anyone can think of anywhere that would work well? We could use Tresillian Business Park if cars rather than scenery are the focus!
