Early Le Mans heads up.
Discussion
I know it seems like for ever away but who is thinking of doing Le Mans 24hr in 2013. It always seems to be the case that someone posts up that they are going about a month before and we end up with a huge crowd saying how they wish they could have got the time off etc etc.
I am definitely going again after my first trip this year, which was great fun. Will follow the same format staying with Adam, Woza and the gang on the Team Langoustine campsite travelling out on the Thursday morning and returning on the Monday afternoon. Obviously I cannot compare it to any other site, but the people, nice cars, location, beers and security they offered was fantastic. I would highly recommend it if your looking for a fun friendly atmosphere without the undesirables ruining things like I hear goes on elsewhere.
It would be good to have as many familiar faces as possible down there this year. I know ECain and Gruffnut are already on it and making plans so just interested to know who else is planning a trip??

Hello mate. I would say the Le Mans forum on here is a good place to start. There are various sites to stay on with ranging reviews. Ferry wise we went Portsmouth to Cherbourg on the fast cat on the Thursday morning and came back on the same route on the Monday afternoon. Worked well.
That would be awesome Darren, just need to get in touch with Adam (v8 byf) or woza to reserve a spot on the site as it books up really quickly. Happy to keep you and luke in the loop as far a what ferries we are getting etc so we can get a little group together. Last year was so such a laugh.
I'm going to take a lowered petrol powered skateboard and a maybe a radio controlled helicopter!
Glad your sorted Dan, that's a fair old group for the PHSC on the TL site.
Ferries looking expensive at the moment? Euro tunnel is only about £95 though which is odd??
Let's start a list of who is in the gang of real men
TJR/Neil.d - Mega diesel of some description!
Gruffnutt +1 - Monaro

Quite a few of us have reserved spaces with Adam for the TL site. No ferrys booked yet and I think most will just sort their own out based on budget/locations etc. I personally am still looking at Portsmouth to Cherbourg outbound on th Thurs morning and returning Monday afternoon on the same route.
Eddie and Nick will probably be doing Poole. To be honest we will probably just end up all meeting down there. Should be a decent size PH contingent on the site either way.
Be good to have you along.

Got an email today from Brittany Ferries claiming 20% off there crossings next year. Went online and called them and it is only for a full holiday booked through them, not crossings only. I asked if the prices for June would come down and she said that as it was Le Mans weekend the prices would stay at the extortionate price they currently are.
So your looking at £298 return from Portsmouth to Cherbourg on the fastish cat and £94 return for the tunnel.
Difficult decision. Its about 100miles each way extra from Calais plus the mileage this side to get to Dover.

FERRY BOOKED
SO I have bitten the bullet and got on an booked a ferry. Going to go from Dover to Calais as I cant bring myself to pay £300 to go from Portsmouth. We are going with P&O and will just have to swallow the extra fuel and tolls!! Opted out of the tunnel as I quite like the opportunity for a coffee and break onboard. Details of our crossing are below and it cost £105 return. Hopefully some of you guys will be up for the same one for a road trip down.
