Gents,
Thinking of sorting out a Tunnel Run in Leeds,

We did this a few years ago and was a very pleasant way to spend an hour on a Sunday morning (see the thread on here).

It's a simple format - we meet at point A, chat about cars until people arrive then we drive for 20mins to point B taking in the sights and more importantly the sounds of the route. Once at point B we get a coffee and talk about cars again.
This is not a race or anything to do with driving fast. It just allows us to enjoy our cars with very little traffic in near empty tunnels all within the rules of the road.

So date wise I'm proposing either Sunday May 1st or Sunday May 22nd. We can't do the CITP weekend as Leeds Half Marathon is on so some of the roads we would use are shut. Can't do April as waiting on some bits for my M4 from the states.

If we get some decent interest in going ahead with this then I'll need a little bit of assistance - but will cover that when the time comes. In the first instance just need a show of hand for which date works best.

cheers
Adam

Will you be intersecting from the left or the right?

Unless you drive under there regularly or recently i'd recommend a recce, last time I drove Westbound the various holes in the road were huge.
Apparently LCC has been given circa 10p to repair its roads so i'm not sure where exactly they'll apply it.
All in hand - recce'd most parts of the route (similar but not the same as previous years). Going to do a few dry runs to check as don't want potholes or any proposed road works spoiling things.

I'm up for this as long as it doesn't result in s59 notices for all! !

My r8 v10 is brutally loud and in tunnels it scares the carp out of folk!
I'm taking precautions. Nothing gets mentioned on social media, no route gets released prior to the start (apart from those members car's who I have seen previously), and start point gets conveyed via private message on here the week before. Don't mean to be all cloak & dagger but don't want any dheads or unwanted attention spoiling things. The previous Tunnel Runs have been really enjoyable and had a good turn out of interesting motors - hoping for the same again this time.

to recap the info...

Date: Sunday 22nd May
Time: early 08:00ish
Location: Leeds - starting point confirmed a few days before
Format: Sticking to BatleyBoys previous format, the king is dead - long live the king. Meet, chat, you get a route map, we depart in groups, enjoy a nice 20min drive, arrive at point B where we can grab a coffee. Simple.

Excuse the cloak and dagger stuff - but it's the best way for arranging these events and has worked well in the past. Don't want it getting spoilt by idiots turning up en masse.

I'll be sending out joining instructions and a link to the route today/tomorrow by DM. Timings will be a 07:30 for 08:00 departure - checked the roadworks that are currently in Leeds and we should be unaffected.

Looking forward to seeing you all. Any of your friends got something interesting/loud feel free to invite them.

Not meaning to be a party popper, but if this number of cars turn up, surely plod will turn up as I can imagine the noise will be rather noticeable.....

I'm cautious about revving my car through tunnels....got stopped a few years in my gtr for doing this despite not speeding. ....cop gave me a telling off despite no offence being committed!
Think this is half the numbers we had last time we did this - but its a fair point and hopefully by replicating the format of previous events, like keeping the details semi-private and not inviting d1ckheads then this will be an enjoyable meet.

Just noticed for the keen eyed that start and finish point on the route map picture doesn't match with the written instructions - that was from an early draft, rest of the route is the same. The start point was in big green letters on the link I sent so everyone should be ok.

see you tomorrow

Glad everyone enjoyed it - it's a nice way to spend an hour on a Sunday morning, boys playing with their toys.
If anyone has any pics please stick them up.
Thanks for those that took part, will sort another one later in the summer ....with a bigger car park to finish in.
