Will be travelling Glasgow to Inverness soon, and have a bit of spare time to add an hour to the journey - any decent detours on quiet roads that I can make? From a quick look on the map, apart from a couple of roads parallel to the A9 or going up through somewhere like Ferness there ain't a whole load of roads up that way...

some route via glenshee, cock bridge, lecht, tomintoul ?

not sure how much extra time it would add but some excellent sections of tarmac to experience.
Google reckons an extra hour and a half but it does look an interesting route.

Either of those are probably too early for lunch anyway. Like the idea of the backroads to Grantown, will scope it out, thanks.

I guess I could be tempted by it...
