Hi Peeps...I may of found a low mileaged V6 engine to go into delilah...I can then send the original off for rebuilding and then sell the low mileage motor later on...The future looks whiney!!..smile

Yeah...yeah...yeah...nuts..."I wish"...As said a V8 wont fit, Well an RV8 wont but a ford 302 will but in honesty once the engine is rebuilt and the supercharger is fitted then i should have a wedge thats running over 300bhp... smile

Hope your not expecting 300 BHP from a V6 ?
[/quote]
Well im not going to get too excited until its rebuilt but the guy that will be rebuilding it is John toovey and he is known for his work on V6 cologne's...Its being built to race specification and should be pushing over 200bhp....Then when the supercharger is fitted it should be pushing up to or over 300bhp..Then with a squirt of NOS..Well enough said...Just have to wait and see..Should be ready for next years BBWF...Ziga

What are are planning on doing for heads? Grady
Hi Mate...Not too sure yet but unleaded conversion is a must..Some port matching and polishing possibly big valves If they are needed...The supercharger kit is set up for stock parts but i will be talking to Mr toovey nearer the time to see if there is anything that would benefit the enigine and work in harmony with the blower..A blower profiled cam is being added to the list especially if the old one is wearing and will need changing anyway..The main thing will be making sure the engine is strong enough to cope with the extra horses..Cheers..Ziga

Zig, I am really sorry to read about your engine woes. You have done so much with that car, it's such a shame. Can I suggest you speak with the guy who looked after my Cologne 2.9 12v V6 race engine? He is an expert (yes, he really is) with Ford V6's, his name is John Toovey and is based in Cannock. He will discuss your options and offer prices accordingly. His prices will be no where near what you have been quoted. The biggest bill I've had off him was less than half you have been quoted and that included 6 forged pistons, big valve conversion, decked heads and block, scary cam and all new bearings as well as a host of other stuff. That engine ran 250bhp at 7500rpm! It's well worth a chat with him before you make your mind up. He may even have a built engine just sat on the shelf.
Thanks chris..Optimism is a good thing...As you can see by Mr Chant's post its not impossible to get over 200bhp out of a V6..The guy that owned the kit before me sent me one of his friend's email addresses and i have conversed with him over quite a few issues regarding the supercharger kit..His sierra is pushing 223bhp on stock parts and thats with a big 4 door metal shell to lug about...Next year will be the telling factor...cheers...Ziga

Hi Chris..I have seen that ad for a while now..Looks interesting..I found this which is a quote from sprintex as regards to the S102..The pulley ratio that came with it equated to a ratio of 2:1 Maybe change the pulley sizes at some point to maximize boost..

"In terms of basic specs, the S102 had a theoretical displacement of 1.09 litres/rev, built in pressure ratio of 1.85 and a maximum recommended input speed of 13500 rpm (constant)"

Cheers..Ziga

Just found another bit of info...

Sprintex 27-07-11, 22:05

Standard setup should be around 6.5psi.

Staying within the 6,000RPM rev limit (?) the S102 can go up to 9.4psi, which on a 2.9 should give 286bhp with a drive ratio of 2.33:1. Any more than this and it'll overspeed.

Delilah is more than just a car to me..Yes she is a wedge but she was my salvation to an illness i suffered for 20 years after an horrific car accident..So at whatever cost she deserves a new life just like she gave me...End of...Ziga

Cheers for the support and info..I have thought about three port heads..Even 3 port alloy heads..But..Although im still sceptical there were apparently test's done by a company that rebuilds colognes to 3.7ltr as to which flowed better..Siameesed or three port headers..The test apparently showed NO gain whatsoever..The siameesed manis do not restrict flow or cause turbulance..Plus do i really need big outlets and more ports with a supercharger?..Would that not let the air out too quick??..Alli race heads are a nice thought...Ziga

Well in honesty i would be happy with 200-250bhp max..And maybe i might just settle for less....Im not going to be driving it like im wearing lead boots..Not that i give a hoot about fuel economy anyway but more to the point of not wanting to stack whilst driving like a knob!..Traffic = 2nd gear idle crawl..I will be upgrading..Prop..UJ's..brakes..Suspension..Clutch and having the gearbox rebuilt..The car is going to RT sometime next year for a full body off chassis check and re-coat..Then all bushes...Bolts and nuts to be replaced where needed..New suspension set up and brake upgrade fitted..Yes its going to cost a fortune but i dont give a flying fk..If it cost's 10K and i can run it for the next ten years when it will be a 40year old car that still kicks arsh..Ill be chuffed as a pig in shyte..I have no commitments and you cant take anything with you when you leave this earthly place and so delilah will either go to my 2nd cousin who is becoming an engineer or i will be buried in it..biggrin

well its very interesting to say the least to have all this input and i appreciate everyone's comments but realistically its all just hypothetical until i have discussed it with Toovey race engines..Delilah is my everyday car and it would be pointless to have something that is not practical..I dont intend to race her but i would love to have an engine that is something a bit different and can handle full boost of the supercharger if i want it to..Maybe it would be a different story if i was pushing the engine hard on a track for most of the time..There are many cars that have 250bhp and over that are on our roads and many who partake in track days..Also after my ride in a tuscan up the runway at the BNG i have the G factor in my bones and its like a drug that needs satisfying and im sure the guys that drive later TVRs use theirs daily?..
There are a big handful of other cars that i could buy with the money i intend on spending but i dont want them..The fact that even now my wedge draws a lot of attention is a good enough basis to increase the wow factor on even more..So please continue with your input as its all good!..Cheers..Ziga

Thats cool mate...Its really hard to offend me anyway and once i have made me mind up(which is the hardest part)i tend to stick with me guns...I value all critisism..Good and bad as we can learn from both...Plus im not on this earth to make enemies..While i remember do you have any pics of your wedge for next years calendar..I like to get people in that havent been..That goes for anyone else as well...Cheers...Ziga

Good Luck with the upgrade Zig,Do you have an idea of timescale for the upgrade? Soon? Over winter? sometime next year? longer term project?.
Hi Norman..I should imagine its going to happen early next year, The build time for the engine is only two weeks...Pretty quick..Bit like the end result really..Hopefully..Ziga

Hi Mate..I will be talking to Toovey race engines soon about spec..Im not sure if i will go for decked heads or a pair of these....

They are not cheap but in the long run its longevity im after and dont want to be having to have head work done 5 years down the line..Or sooner...The supercharger kit is looking better, I have been cleaning the blower up today and its nearly all done...Cheers...Ziga

Its cheating going to 7000rpm
Hi Mate..Mine red lines at 6000rpm and i wont be going over 4000rpm when driving..I will most certainly be getting speeding fines if i do..I want the wedge to give off a new type of presence..One that say's.."Do you really wanna feck with me"?..One thing that makes me laugh is a garage that i pass each day..Every time i go passed it all the mechanics stand outside covering their ears..WTF?...Today i stopped and revved the nuts off it..They all went back inside..When i eventually get the engine and blower sorted im going to pull up outside rev till im satisfied and then tear off leaving a massive number eleven outside..laugh
