Hi peeps..What a frigging nightmare..I had the N/S engine mount replaced a little while back and asked if they could change the O/S as it had some cracking on it...It never got changed..So me and a friend tackled it earlier..Alternator off...Downpipe off..Plugs out..Oil filter off...Then we had to take the bracket that holds the mount off the engine as there was no way of getting any leverage to undo the nuts..Four hours later we started putting it all back together..I told him to leave the alternator to me but he had already put it back!!..Started her up and saw a load of smoke coming from the front of the engine..Low and behold he had put the belt on the wrong part of the pulley..mad...I suppose it could of been worst..look at the state of the mount, Its completely in half...eek...Cheers...ziga

Hi Mate...Cheers for the advice..Im sure that the engine does squash the rubber although i will check tomorrow..The old one started to swell up and start burning on the exhaust and i think thats what caused it to split, The O/S mount is really close to the exhaust..I have put some foil tape around the rubber in the hope that it will deflect a little heat away from the rubber...When i bought the mounts there was two types and the ones that i bought were the larger of the two...Cheers...Ziga

If it swelled up, could it have been the Power steering fluid/leak ? I didn't think heat alone caused swelling, but I bet brake fluid etc. does !!
possibly..That is one job i still need to do but im holding it off until i have another rad fan that pulls rather than pushes as the rad needs to be lifted up a bit to remove two bolts holding the rack in and the fan has to come off before i can move the rad, Its an annoying fiddly job..Also if im taking the rack out i want to fit the capri power steering pump rather than the one i have as it goes onto the other side of the engine which will need to happen to enable space for the blower..I also need the hydraulic hoses made....Although the mount was dry and it was burning on the exhaust for about a week so that might of caused it to fail...Cheers...Ziga
