I will start buying shares in Hammerite! Looking good.

That's a strange exhaust route though - got any pics from the back?

Excellent job. That'll be satisfying when it's done.

I do think you need to inflate that rear o/s tyre though !! ;-)

Adi
Lol it was a bit tight between the rear dolly uprights so dropped the space saver on to errrr save space

Anyone noticed the weird tube arrangement on my chassis

Looking from the front it looks like the sloping down tubes have been cut off and tubes added right on the end of the front horizontal bar.

Would love to see some other engine / chassis pics to compare.

Great guys for the comments

The header thread bolts came out quite easy, but I had squirted them with wd40 daily for a week. Everyone had this random grey powder on the treads???

Andy, thanks for the pics. Mine almost looks as though the slopinging down tubes at the front have been cut out between the top rail and strut mount. Then replaced to reconnect the top rail to the end on the front horizontal bar . Weird

Adrain@, you saying that could be a tvr mod, vs part of the v8 conversion you think?

I'll tap up Steve Guest for some pic :-)

Cheers guys and those hardening off to Burghley have a great day

At the pace you work Glen and at £50 a day we can form an orderly queue to your garage doors, you'd have all our cars sorted by Christmas, what ya say?
My you are generous lol

Given I've never done anything like this before I'm sort of pleased with myself

I guess taking it apart is the easy bit

The existing top rail sits under this lip, the fibre glass bulk head is the only thing stopping wider top rails. i guess the bulk head could be cut / re positioned to move the top rail allowing a whole tube?

Couple of chassis schematics from the bible and my parts book

My front is a blend of the 2. I also have those side flaps the body sits on. The 280 pics doesn't seem to have them in that shot

Per Adrian's note, anyone got any tub shots to see the difference between 280 and 350

Good spot ref the curved strut for power steering

Now mine is a November 1980 car, power steering didn't come online till January 1981 (unless it was modded during the v8 conversion as it was running power steering)
