Bad weather is upon us so I have squeezed my Honda Blackbird into the garage with the SEAC. It fits snug..but it's in ok.

But then this happened.. and I am so p****d off!! It was a stupid thing to do, and I still can't believe I actually did it!! As I backed the bike in, the exhaust scraped the bumper..removing the paint about 1" long!!
Needless to say, the air turned bluer than the SEAC!! furious

I was planning on get the trim around the tail pipe tidied/painted over winter. It looks like I will have to get the whole bumper done!

Unbelievable, what a tt! rolleyes

Anyone else ever done something similarly as dumb?

It happens.. But it's bloody annoying when it does. mad

That looks neat Zig, not sure I want a different colour around the exhaust.. i just want the rough edges that have been damaged by exhaust removal sorted and sprayed. With my new 'scratch' it looks like the whole bumper needs doing.

Cheers.

Yep - I bought a 390SE tongue out

Feel your pain I remember a wheel I'd taken off and balanced tipping over and sods law just hitting a raised edge on the drive to put a gash in one the alloy spokes - it was mint prior to that. Really makes you want to take a sledge hammer to something!

Shouldn't be too bad having the bumper and skirt painted though?

I had to walk away & calm down.. otherwise had a sledgehammer been close by... Or done a Jim Carey..and kick my own arse! punch

Need to find a recommended paint/body shop.. preferably in the Herts/Beds/Bucks area. At least I have the winter to sort it.

True.. but the paint 'was' immaculate... I'm irritated with myself because it was easily avoidable, but I just was to cocky putting the bike away..

More speed, less haste? rolleyes

I may have a little OCD, I know the damage is there..and it will bother me until I fix it!

What's worose though: accidentally scraping your own car or having som toe-rag do it for you? My Tasmin was keyed across the roof a fortnight after a full respray (cost £800 in 1999)... the only slight saving grace was that mine wasn't the only car 'hit' that night, but it was a bit of a p1553r that the then-wife's car was keyed as well.
That takes it to a whole different level.. if my car/Wedge was keyed by some low life pond scum I would be beyond rage. And its made even worse (if that's possible) in your case Ian! Scum..utter Scum! Just no respect for other people's property! It comes down to simple jealousy, and also..boredom. It's seen as fun, something to do.. innit.

It takes me back to when I upgraded my front brakes on the 350. AP calipers, new pads, pipes the lot. Reversed out of the garage, swung round forward, realised I wasn't going to clear the garage wall, hit the brakes... you've guessed it, no bite! Straight into the brickwork and a great big chunk out of the front bumper. I wasn't going to admit that to anybody but on seeing the thread, felt I had to.
And the truth shall set you free brother.. hehe
