I have a set of TOYO PROXES 225/50 R15 88V with just 800 gentle running in miles on them.

Free to any Wedge or TVR owner who can make use of them, collection from RUSHDEN Northants.

My 350i has a large bore custom exhaust which runs a tad close to mother earth!

After a few nasty sounding groundings I have bitten the bullet (or wallet!) and are fitting 55's.
This will not eradicate the issue, but a 10mm increase in ride height will help.

Whilst at the rececnt fest I noticed a number of Wedges with 225/60 R15's, these certainly look to fill up the wheel arches, are there clearance issues?

I am a tad confused on the factory tyre size for the 350i, the Bible states 50's, early road tests list 60s, is that a typo from the factory?

The diameter for the 14" 60's on a 280 are a couple of mm bigger than the 15" 50's but 15" 60's are best part of 40mm bigger...

Your alued input appreciated, Regards David

FORGOT TO MENTION.. the new tyres will be fitted next Tues.. I am happy to store the 50's in my shed for a few weeks.
However, if nobody claims them by Tues morning I will leave them at the tyre fitters, as I have already paid a disposal fee. Regards David

The tyres have been claimed and willl be picked up in the next week or so.
If the arrangement falls through for any reason I will contact you in posting order.
Thanks for your interest, pleased that they will be made use of, by the way the 55's I have fitted are a sucess, what a differance 10mm makes when you need it!
Regards David

The 55's are 20mm larger on OD than the 50's.

I did concider going to 60's which would give 20mm increase in ride height, but IMO they look a bit tall on the car, I understand from other Wedgers that there could be some rubbing on max suspension movement.

The early 350i was specced with 15/50's but I have seen 15/60's on spec sheets from road tests, which I assume is an error.

The 280i had14/60's, the 15/50's are a tad smaller on OD the 15/55s a tad bigger.

The good news is that I can now park on my drive without dinging the muffler, thats even with Anne in the passenger seat.!! https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/9.gif
