"BT&P"! That`s "Beer, Turkey and Pickle" - a slightly down market version of Pistonheads "Black Tie & Pie"!

Don`t know where, don`t know when, but I`m sure we`ll meet again (where have I heard that before? ) either before Christmas or after - any suitable ideas, perhaps including a night over stay to enable serious drinking?

Edited to add: We could of course encompass an Xmas lunch at our usual EAPHer watering hole at The Flying Fortress in Bury St Edmunds - this would usually be on the last Sunday of the month (the 28th November in this case). I`ll check with them to see if they are doing Xmas lunches at that time - may need to book it though!

You see - the smallest mention of PICKLE and out of the wood work they come! Or is it the beer?!

This can be anything from a decent Xmas luncheon get together, or (if Billynomates gets his way ) TWO nights pickle debauchery - or is it that beer?!

Wryka - please find out some more info ok.

Billynomates - tell me more about this airfield!

BTW - for those EAPHers who haven`t met him yet (and you`ll know when you have ), Billynomates is our "Pan - county" Interloper from Surrey - and very welcome he is too!

I was considering organising a Branston pickle factory tour as well but unfortunately they had a fire recently

Big M - Suits me, anything to get away from sales How`s that FTO of yours?

NickP - If BBC`s Stuart White (him with the red socks)on Look East says Essex is part of East Anglia, that`s good enough for me! Will you be around then or will you be off on one of your trips?

Phil - "Mums" the word

Sounds to me like a good scoff and drench with a wench. I shall keep reading and see where we are off to.

At the moment it looks all points east and any time from November to next February so I`ll definately find out about The Flying Fortress first to get at least one definitive watering hole

Ok then, I had better take a lead here or else nothing will happen! After careful consideration and suggestions from you motley lot and based on where those showing interest would be coming from, I have concluded that The Flying Fortress is the still the fairest location so all can have a drive (the overnighter idea will have to be shelved as it`s too short notice - consider for next year or join in the proper BT&P) so I`m going to get info. I`ll find out about two dates - mid December on a Sunday and between Xmas and New Year as Big-M suggested

Right then - listen up

I`ve done this to get something rolling - comments (probably) welcome

I have provisionally booked some tables (as space short) at The Flying Fortress on Sunday the 12th December at around 1pm. Postcode IP31 2QU for www.multimap.com

Rough menu (if you`d like me to fax it to you, let me know your number):

Starters:

Veg soup
Ardennes Pate
Thai style prawns
Mushrooms stuffed with Stilton

Main course:

Roast Turkey
Roast beef
Salmon Supreme
Medallions of Pork
Mediterranean veg pancake

Pud:

Christmas Pudding
Choice from trolley
Cheese & bics

Other:

Coffee/Tea with choc mint
Christmas Cracker - if she turns up

Cost per person @ £18.95ea

It will need to be a £5 deposit from each in order to make a definate ok.

This menu will available between Xmas and the New Year so it could be done over the holiday if prferred. All that want to do this must let me know in order to get firm numbers - or it won`t happen

No worries Big-M, it`s only provisionally booked - in panic when told table limitatons today, in fact the 19th is available as well but I`m happy to do a holiday one, let`s see what the others prefer ok

Oh dear - I mention money and suddenly this thread is more dead than a Dodo!

Shall I just forget about booking anything then and leave it as a drink over the Christmas hols and take a chance on eating?

Not accurately but it looks(ed) like there are a couple from Essex so I figured it would mean a 40-60 mile drive for most - and The Flying Fortress has been used throughout this year successfully exactly because of that - Tuxman and his Ultima have made it from Peterborough as an example

Looks like a drink between boxing day and New year is best bet so I`ll put up another post for that soon ok Personally I`m easy (after a few drinks ) so if another venue gains the most votes, I`ll be there!!

I can heartily recommend the pub at woodbastwick...durrrr can't remember the name but it's on the same site as the woodfordes brewery and it is truly a great place for beer and food. not sure about the wenches though

I'll second that. It's the 'Fur & Feather'. Haven't been for a couple of years but it's a favourite haunt for people sailing on the broads. Excellent home cooked food complete with home made beer .

Seeing how whiskey distilleries on the west coast of Scotland isn't exactly central to our region, thought I'd triangulate the map. Anyone know anywhere near here?

Why it does look like The Flying Fortress is slap bang central in your triangle!

Tell more about The Fur & feather!

Hi Nick, I`m personally doing other things now on the 12th. Others have suggested a drink between boxing day and the new year, what do you think?
