THE BUCKET & SPADE RAID 17TH APRIL TO NORFOLK(WITH RESERVE DATE 24TH APRIL IF WEATHER POOR ON 17TH)

Here are the times and places which may be subject to minor changes. If you have any suggestions on queries, don`t be shy, just let me know!

SATELLITE MEETING POINT - DEPARTURE TIME 09:45HRS

TOYS r US in Ipswich, Suffolk just north of the A12/A14 junction. PHers from here will be travelling up via Bury St Edmunds on the A134 through Thetford and on to Kings Lynn. If you fancy joining along the route, please liase with "Simpo Two" through his profile etc to arrange approx RV times and suitable places.

MAIN MEETING POINT - DEPARTURE TIME 12:00HRS

Tescos on the outskirts of Kings Lynn just off the "Hardwick" roundabout.

The "Hardwick" roundabout is where all major routes (A149, A10 & A17/47 west/east) converge. It is huge and has a flyover so you will not mistake it! Follow signs into Kings Lynn and as you come off the roundabout, keep in the left lane as you will need to filter left within 150 metres into the retail park and for Tescos. Earlier arrivals should try and park in the Tescos car park adjacent to the Pizza Hut where parking is usually more plentiful away from the store!

Hardwick roundabout heading into Kings Lynn from A10

Entering Tescos

From Tescos, we will head north to Hunstanton on the A149 and should reach the "Cliff" car park at the far end of the town by about 12:30hrs. Any drivers who get parted from the convoy should follow the "beach" signs and then keep hugging the coastline/cliffs until you see the Light house ahead where the "Cliff" car park will be seen.

There is a cafe (it also sells buckets & spades ), toilet facilities and also access to the beach or cliffs for a walk or picnic. If you fancy the "kiss me quick" end of Hunstanton (known as "Sunny Hunny" ), there is a land train you can board (don`t have full details for this yet) which will take you to amusements, fish & chip restaurants, wine bars, Britains biggest joke shop etc!

The day is yours - please feel free to do whatever you fancy for the rest of the day but if a couple of hours is enough for you at Hunstanton, here is an option for later!

TRIP TO SANDRINGHAM ESTATE - DEPART FROM HUNSTANTON 14:30HRS.

We will head back south on the A149, Sandringham is well sign posted about 8 miles from Hunstanton. There is ample parking here and you can visit the House, gardens, museum, visitor centre and restaurant. There is ample scope for country walks and picnics. Gardens close at 5pm.

Notes:

It is hoped to hand out an info sheet at the beginning of the day with some details like where to get "optimax/Ultimate" etc and car park details etc etc.

There will be a special "BLAT" phone on for the day if you have any queries etc (07952-671514) - or get lost!!

Potential traffic "hot spots" will be ALL approaches to the "Hardwick" roundabout near Kings Lynn and the approach to Hunstanton!

With thanks to GTR-GAZ for sowing the seed!

There will be a special thread just before the due date as a "go" or "no" depending on the weather outlook - all who have said they`d like to go on the earlier "B&SR" thread will be emailed through their profiles to confirm

Wow, I am impressed

Very well organised. Have you ever thought about starting up a business doing coach tours

Looking forward to it Ian. Hope the weather is better than it was today.

Will anyone else be heading up the A10?

Gary

Do you mean there could be a market for loads of coaches hooning about together then?

Contact Mark ("mbradbury" - he replied towards the end of the "PHEA proudly announces" thread if you want his profile connection) about the A10 route as he will be coming from Cambs with a couple of freinds so you could probably join forces

Hope the Sun does indeed shine on us - as it has been known for some PHers to use their "day" car if the weather is a bit dreary

All welcome - I will email all through their profiles who have registered interest a couple of days before the "off" date 17th to say "go" or "no" depending on weather forecast and also post in the PHEA forum

I hope Saab 9-5 Aeros are allowed on the convoy - not as quick as my old TVR but should just about manage to keep up!!

Sounds a great day - do I need to confirm numbers for the lunch time meal or is it bring a picnic???

Cheers,

Rupert

Hi Rupert, the plan is to hoon up together, but food/activities while at the venues etc will be down to personal preference. I will be handing out an info sheet at the main meeting point with suggestions and general info etc

Is it possible to do a list of cars we know are coming?

I guess the organiser will have a preety good idea.

GN

Hi Greg,

Here is a rough list gathered from the two related "B&SR" threads and direct emails:

TVR Griff x 6
TVR Chimaera x 4
TVR V8S x 1
TVR 400SE x 1
TVR Tuscan x 1
TVR T350 x 1
Lotus Elise x 2
Lotus 111R x 1
Ultima x 2
Noble x 1 (yours!)
DeTomaso x 1
Porsche Boxter x 1
Vauxhall VX220 x 1
Dax Cobra x 1
Ferrari x 2
Saab 9-5 Aero x 1
E-Type Jag x 1

And there may be some more I don`t know about - the above list of attendies varies from "maybe if the weather`s good" to "definate"

Those Griffiths are so common!

Looks like a great line up Ian. Really looking forward to it, as is the lady friend! (it will be her first trip in the Noble!!)

Sad to say that I saw a rather poor weather report this evening for Sunday. Bt fingers crossed, its a bit early to forcast IMO!!

It didn`t look too good did it, but let`s wait and see It`s fair to say a proportion of those cars won`t actually make it going by past events (but doing that count for you surprised me actually - if they all came I`d have to print some more info packs!) but should still be a healthy quantity

Fingers crossed for good weather.

The report for Hunstanton www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=3054

The report for Cambridge

The report for London
www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml

Can anyone explain how there can be such a difference over 100 miles on a daily forcast??

Maybe God is a Petrolhead too!!!

Hi Greg, I can tell you it is pouring in Hunstanton as I write this which just slightly contradicts your weather links! Those 5 day forecasts are always wrong (and on BBCi)

Check out the forecast for Cambs on your link for Sunday - bright sun it shows and then advises of poor visibility

I will do a thread on here around 7pm tonight (and email all) after the evening news but I think we are looking at the reserve date of the 24th unfortunately

Hmm, the MET Office site says cloudy on SUnday and weather.co.uk says showers in the afternoon.
If it is going ahead on Sunday you can add a Spitfire to the list of attendees.

It`s touch & go I reckon depending on which weather forecast we go with! I know a couple that won`t come if there is any chance of rain! Can you make the reserve date if it`s used?

ChrisF1 - the more the merrier Chris, it`s looking like the rain will hold off until evening, just check out times etc

Muncher - I reckon we`ll be at Sandringham by the time you get over (3 ish onwards) if you make it - your call!

Purrfect - you didn`t put your name down on the list and don`t mention the Picasso on these pages , will that be a Renault Coupe doing the B&SR?!

Looks like I might be solo now. The lady has other plans (doesn't get cars!!)

Trouble is that I don't have any friends left since buying the Noble. I never let any of them drive it and now they all think I'm tight!!

Best to be on the safe side!

So you have a spare passenger seat do you?! See me tomorrow - GTR-Gaz now has some great company in his passenger seat!

Enjoyed it all very much and great to meet familier and new faces

I have to give thanks to GTR-GAZ for the ride - awesome stuff and I think I got a little decent footage as he engaged "Warp factor 9" to overtake several cars at a time!

The only trouble I thought we were going to get was in the Tescos car park when all "the Tesco management" came over - I was ready with my receipt to show we had been customers and was relieved when they started taking pics with their mobiles!

Many thanks to Ian for organising the whole thing. Not having been to anything like it was quite nervous about bringing the most underpowered/oldest/cheapest car there but was made to feel really welcome.

Many thanks to all, a great day out

Hope to see you all somewhere soon, if you'll have me back

Cheers!

Whats happening with the video Ian.

Felt a bit nervous when driving off with you filming. Chuffed I didn't stall it!

Had a great day and looking forward to seeing any other pics.

Gary, maybe we could just swop cars in a year or 2. It seems all the Noble boys (including myself) would love to own Ultimas and vice versa!! Just don't think I could BUILD one.

Stunning car mate and I love the yellow

Very gutted following you out of Hunny as your car got far more looks than the Noble behind you!!! Thats not on mate.

Greg

Hi Greg,

It`s in the thread below called "phea bucket & spade raid video" Just follow the link

I did the best I could with limited footage and you are on the end ok
