A new NPD petrol station just opened near me, usually known for discounted fuel they had a big flashing sign TRY OUR 100+ OCTANE FUEL. This stuff normally sells for huge dollars but it was only a few cents more than 95.

I'd just filled up with BP 98 octane (which cost more than the 100+ stuff).

Is this a local thing or has anyone tried it?

Have just filled my car with this & done a 260 km trip. I normally run 98. Can't tell any difference. Am no Lauda/ Prost
Spoke with a senior NPD rep, He assured me it is proper petrol, no alcohol. Cheaper than BP 98.

What do you drive?

Nice.

Be interested to hear your thoughts after a couple of tanks of 100+

Shame that I'd just put 600kms worth of BP 98 in my car then spotted the new NPD just over the road.

Think you'd need to be Lauda/ Prost etc to tell difference.
Read a German car mag many years ago comparing 98 vs 100 in a standard Boxter. Difference was 2-3 horsepower. I'm using 100 because cheaper than BP 98. NPD new in town.
Where are you & driving what? Cheers
I think it can take time for the engine to adjust, maybe three fills, the first fill will still have a few litres of 98 sloshing around. When my computer reads zero kms to empty there's still 10 litres left.

I drive a Blade Master, looks like a Corolla but has a 3.5 V6 motor.
I live in the foothills wop wops, closest town is Rolleston, 50kms away.

Topped up with the 100+ octane fuel yesterday, only 25 litres as I still had a half tank of BP's 98 octane.
Paid $2.25 a litre which was 12 cents less than BP Ultimate.

NPD claim that typically the fuel is measured to be 101.5 octane, be interesting to see if there's any performance difference when I'm running pure 100+

I filled up 3 weeks ago, BP 98 was $2.30, NPD 100 was $1.95.

Since switching to 100 octane my fuel economy is 9% better and my 'butt dyno' says I've got more power. I love the stuff*

  • No, I don't work for NPD smile
