So, we will soon (relatively) be rid of the M3 debacle, but it's ok, Surrey County council have a plan...
They are going to completely redesign the Meadows Roundabout, which is reckoned will cause gridlock for around a year...
Oh goody.

http://www.gethampshire.co.uk/news/local-news/mead...

From the SCC Website:
"Meadows Gyratory Improvements

High levels of congestion on this strategic highway network leads to significant and regular queuing on the A30, A331 and A321 approaches. Improvements to the Meadows Gyratory aim to reduce delays and reduce congestion on this busy gyratory. The scheme proposals address these constraints and capacity issues, improving access to Camberley town centre for all modes of transport.

The Meadows is a major gyratory providing connectivity between the M3 with the A30 and a key access route into Camberley town centre. The improvements are an important component to ensure the future well-being of Camberley and resilience on the A30. The improved Meadows Gyratory will reduce travel time across the junction and reduce circulating traffic. The improvements include the provision of new and improved signal crossings and traffic islands to protect pedestrians and cyclists.

Construction works are planned to begin in January 2018. The scheme construction will be undertaken in stages to ensure continuity of traffic flow across the junction. Surrey CC is working closely with Highways England to minimise impacts to the M3. A Construction Management Plan will be in place to minimise any disruption to travel."

For some reason I don't understand, the road just around the corner from me (Moorlands Road, off Frimley Road in Camberley) was completely resurfaced yesterday. I use that road daily, and I don't remember it being particularly bad - in fact, I don't even remember any potholes or surface irregularities at all - and I could name half a dozen roads which need it MUCH more quite easily. It's not even a main road.

I'm sure there is a good reason, but it seemed a bit of a random choice to me.
It could be that a councillor lives in that road. wink
Don't!

I tried for 2 years to get waitiing restrictions put on part of the only road that accesses my flats, which is often blocked by poor parking. Not all blocked, but just a bit of it , as there is not a chance of getting emergency vehicles to access in an emergency. BFC were fine with it, but it was blocked by a local councillor because the problem would only be "moved to another street".
Oddly, he lived in the next street.

Oh good... even THEY don't know the plan yet rolleyes
Reference number: ME-355510
Location: BLACKWATER VALLEY ROAD, CAMBERLEY

Thank you for your email regarding the work on The Meadows roundabout.

I can confirm the work which is due to take place on the roundabout is still in the detailed design phase. We anticipate the designing will be finished in July, however this is not confirmed.

Once this has happened, and a contractor has been agreed we will then be in a position to be able to communicate plans and share traffic management. To confirm, the roundabout will not be closed, we will be using phased lane closures to minimise disruption.

Once again thank you for contacting us. If you have any further queries or require additional information you may find the following page on our website useful: www.surreycc.gov.uk/highwaysinfo

Kind regards

So, finally it's starting, email received today:
Dear All,

You’ve contacted us in the past or given feedback on the Meadows roundabout improvements. Works are due to begin in the coming weeks, and we’re planning on sending regular e-newsletters to keep people updated throughout the project. If you would like to receive information about these works please subscribe to our mailing list on our Meadows Improvements webpage. At the bottom of the page you’ll find a box where you can enter your email address.

Due to recent GDPR privacy changes, we have updated our privacy notice.

Scheme information
We are aiming to start work to reduce congestion and journey times on the Meadows roundabout at the end of June.

To minimise congestion and delays during the main works, most activity – such as lane closures – will take place at night.

The works are expected to take about one year, and include:

• Creating a new right turn from the A30 in Blackwater so drivers can head on to the A331 southbound towards Frimley and the M3 without using the main roundabout
• Lengthening the queuing lane for drivers approaching on the A331 from Frimley and the M3
• New traffic lights with better timings so drivers can go around the roundabout in less time
• Improving the crossings for pedestrians and cyclists

Actually that sounds great to me!

I live up past the Military College, so have to use the Next/Tesco exit every time I come home off the M3 as there is no right turn at the lights at Rackstraws! So the queues will get shorter now. laugh

I've never quite understood why when there are 3 lanes you'd expect to use the left-hand lane to head for the 3rd exit when there are only 5 exits in total! But it seems to be a common practice in Bracknell Forest as well. rolleyes
You will be further pleased to know they are planning a yellow box junction then.

It appears to be almost finished.
It is:

Project end date
We are now in the final stages of the Meadows improvement project. All works are expected to be completed, and the site clear by Tuesday 30 April.

On Wednesday 24 April the new traffic lights are due to be switched on. During that week, there may be timing changes and fine tuning of the new traffic lights. Once we are satisfied that the new lights are working correctly we will remove the temporary traffic lights. We would like to thank drivers in advance for their patience during the testing period.

The new right hand turn lane to the A331 southbound will be opened to traffic on the 24 April.

Well, whatever they've done hasn't helped the A30 from Camberley towards Blackwater at rush hour. Took me 20 mins to get from Frimley Road to Meadows yesterday (~5:30). Think that's worse than before!
I sailed through this morning coming from Rackstraws down to the M3.
Was a little later than usual, (about 830) but best run through I've had in ages, suspect it may be because of being a Friday and less traffic due to people being off to take advantage of the short week though.
The right hand turn lane from Blackwater to the M3 was working too.
