So... my Kia has a 7 year warranty, and having known the dealer manager when I purchased 3 years ago, I had the first 3 services free ( Kia dealer services ). It is now time to consider further servicing costs, and having approached the dealer, I learn that my 4th service alone will be over £300 if I use them.

I would like to now take the car elsewhere for servicing, as I am sure a local mechanic can do the equivalent oil change and brake disc inspection without charging me the additional corporate fee's to maintain their big shiny showroom.

Question being, having never had a car more than 3 years old for a very long time, am I right in thinking that I can halve the cost of a service by going local and also, surely by doing this it can't have any effect on what is left of the 7 year warranty? ( By that I mean the few remaining "non wear and tear" parts of the car? )

Cheers. I am based in Frimley if it helps.

Thanks, I have spoken to them now and they state that usng an independant should not infringe the warranty as long as they are VAT registered as has been mentioned.

Any recommendations then for a garage in Frimley / Camberley / Woking that woud meet my requirements?
