If you own any Ford Transits, have a look and check out your vans!

We have about 7 Transits all LWB 190 models, from 2009 onwards and shortly after our 09 van went out of warranty that a load of rust was coming through where the drivers door shuts on the door retainer/closer thingy. We also noticed that our 2010 van was exactly the same rust starting and also our 2011 van has too. It's clearly a major manufacturing problem and Ford have agreed to repair the 2010 van by bonding a striker plate on where the rust is and claiming it is £997.74 worth of repair!
What they will not do, even thought the 2009 was only 3 months out of warranty, is repair this one FOC and have kindly offered to repair it at a discounted rate of £500. I threw all the threats under the sun that we buy 2-3 per year and will not be buying any more and of course it counted for nothing.

Has anyone else had this problem. Have you had them repaired by Ford? With what I am being told how they plan to repair them, it will not last anyway as the rust is being the door catch.

I shall write in to them as the numpty on the phone only knew how to say no and was clearly a robot. I doubt I will get anywhere, but if anyone else can add any hope or ammunition, please do. In a few years time, this will be dangerous if not repaired!

Very interesting. We have just bought 3 jumbos this year, so time will tell. All the rest we have which are problematic are 190 LWB's!

They are absolutely crap. We have 7 Transits ranging from 2009 through to March 2013. I would never buy another. Ford have been totally dismissive of the fact that they are all rusting. They have repaired all of them with the front door shuts and rear doors too now. Never known anything like it.

Have moved over to Fiats this year, purely due to payload. We used to run all Mercedes, but by the time you insulate them with refrigeration, they have so little payload it is unpractical for us.
