Ok I have done a search and seen many threads about Capris but just wondered what your thoughts were.

I have seen a mk111 2.0 Capri (manual) locally which has been stored in a dry garage. The owner has asked me to give him an indication of the cars worth, and I may well be interested.

Here are the brief details.

For Capri (1979 I think) 2.0 LS, Red, ???miles, bodywork reasonable cannot see any rot, a few bubbles here and there and the paintwork has faded (T-Cut!) The Interior is the traditional tartan red/orange and black the front drivers seat has unfortunately had ink spilt on it and the rear has a few holes on the top.

I believe the car has been started and moved regularly but the gearbox needs attention. Tickover price for box (2ndhand) is £60

So how much do you think it is worth, provided there is no rot, engine runs without fault and apart from the above is ok.

ALSO

Are there any recommended active forums for Capri owners?

It has no MOT or TAX, it probably hasnt been on the road for some time now.

I know 2.8 and 3.0 Capris are worth a lot more. So would you say £250 for a 2.0 taking into consideration all the facts.

Cannot remember whether it has a sunroof or not, I think it does.

What I am going to do is get some photos and exact details and post them.

How would I get the ink out?

Ok here are the photos as promises, sorry about the quality.

The Car is a 1977 2.0 S, as you can see she needs some work. What are your thoughts on price and.....do you think it will be a money pit?

I say get it! It really depends on what you want? It doesnt look rotten at all only the arches which look like they have been done before. Personally i'd buy it. How much does he want for it?
He has asked me what its worth?

Having looked on Ebay - a car that runs with no MOT and requires minor work fetches between £200>£300, however the gearbox will definately need replacing and I dont know what the brakes, tyres are like etc.

Would you say £200 is too little?

Will do

So realistically in your eyes what is it worth based on the photos?

I know there may be rot - which I will have to account for

I think I am going to go for it dependant on price. So If I can get it for £200-£250 then yes....

Will let you know.

In the meantime if anyone knows a good Capri forum, book, or buyers guide please let me know.
