Focus engine, how long do they last?
Discussion
Hi all,
I bought a focus 2.0 ghia (mk 1 zetec e engine) about a year ago with 103,00 0 miles on the clock, i was a bit dubious about the high mileage as I do 25000 a year and need the car to last, well thankfully 30,000 miles later the car is still in tip top shape, absolutely nothing has gone wrong. I love the car and want to run in into the ground, my question is how long do these engines realistically last? I do my own servicing and change the oil every 5000 miles with quality stuff, and keep my eye on the cambelt so under these conditions is it fair to expect it to last till 200 thou? anyone out there with a zetec e with high miles? plz let me know, thanx

not sure how much a belt fitted costs, (the previous owner did mine), but i would estimate around 200 quid, alot cheaper than a complete engine rebuild! If yours was done at 50,000 it would prob be ok till around 100k, (ford recomend a new belt at 100k but my haynes manual says 60k, either way your alright for now, but if you want peice of mind it wont harm to get a new one
