The 2011 TVR Union Jack Badge Thread!

Last year I arranged for a group buy of some Union Jack design TVR badges as you may have seen on cars at various TVR meets. As some of you may have already seen in the previous badge thread, there is some interest in getting another batch of TVR Union Jack Badges produced, which I am happy to arrange.

As with many things in manufacturing there are certain levels which need to be reached to make the individual badge cost low enough to appeal to people. Prices below are indicative of what prices I expect the final badges will cost. There have been various material, manufacturing and VAT rises since last year, so some prices are a little higher than before - However, considering a much simpler to make standard TVR badge costs around £50, they offer exceptional good value!

I thought the best thing to do was to guage the level of interest to see if there are enough people interested in getting some made, then I can email everyone with final costs and what to do next when we are approaching minimum order levels. EDIT: This level has now been reached 18/07/11

1) Large Badge with 2 M5 thread x 25mm long lugs
Size: 96mm x 35mm x 3mm thickness
Enamelled in Vitreous 3 colours & finished in polished Chrome
Comes complete with flange nuts to fix to car and 1mm Black foam gasket to protect paint and help with any surface uneveness.
Estimated Price: £29 + £3 P&P

I am not near my car at the moment so can't check what the badges are at the moment, i.e. whether I need ones with lugs or just stick on. It is a 99 Chimeara and I would want one for the front and the back, I think the front ones are the ones with lugs and the back would just be a stick on as the badge on the back is a Chimeara badge rather than TVR. Can anyone confirm for me or correct as I am speaking purely from memory and my memory is rubbish.

If I am right and the badge on the back is just Chimeara then I assume others have found space on the other side of the boot for the new TVR badge?

Hi,

I note you have already registered your interest so i guess you have had a chance to look at your car and have answered your questions, but just to confirm that the front badge on a Chimaera has got the lugs and on the rear just the Chimaera badge so those who wanted to add a TVR badge bought a stick on badge and put on the other side on the rear.

The number of people who have expressed an interest is now about 85% of the way to the minimum order quantities to purchase badges at above cost so looks like this is going ahead!

Sometime over the weekend I will send an email to those people who have expressed an interest so far with details of what to do next. Keen to get the order in soon as it will take a few weeks for them to be made and distributed so be nice to get them out to everyone over the summer.

Anyone else who is interested, please complete the form ASAP to ensure you can get the design and finish you want, I am happy to pay for a few extras for people who see this late so we can get the order in place but if you particularly want either Gold or Chrome then best to order now to ensure you get what you want as I will just order some of each finish based on the kind of split others have ordered. Hopefully we may be in a position to place the order by the end of next week if people can make payments promptly.

Unfortunately the badges are not being delivered to me until Wednesday 7th (meant to have been the 1st!), so will try my best to get them sent before I go on holiday.

Now I think back, a similar thing happened last year when the 3-4 week lead time ended up being 6 weeks, so I guess i should have expected it!

Not looked at this for ages, sorry for lack of response! They could get any badges made up really, but I think Original TVR badges are still available to buy via multipart / TVR parts places...

Just to say that I have some of these Union Flag badges left (very limited quantities in some styles) and will bring to the Chatsworth House meet on Sunday, so if anyone is going and wants to have a look at them or buy any then it will be a good opportunity.

As the minimum order for a new batch to keep the cost the same is 50, I imagine it may be quite some time after these are all gone before it is cost effective to order a new batch as will need a reasonable amount of interest before ordering more - So get some while you can if you are interested.

If anyone wants to reserve one to collect, let me know.

Looking forward to seeing them on the cars of those who already have fitted them!
