Evening all!

With our recent excursion into a hedge, we're in need of a full respray on our mk2 Tuscan S. The car was originally Spectraflair Topaz but a few years ago was changed to a different topaz/gold pearl.

Now i'd always told myself that if I had the money to respray, i'd go for Reflex Charcoal but that would also require a fairly major retrim or at least recolour of the blue leather (not sure if that could be done cheaply?) So i'm opening up the floor for some opinions.

- Put the car back to the original factory colour (maybe a bit better)
- Go for a similar Topaz/Gold pearl that it was recently but with some added spectraflair effect
- Repaint in Reflex Charcoal and somehow sort out the interior, maybe at a later date.
- Something else

The most recent Blue/Gold Pearl:

Reflex Charcoal:

Or through to something leftfield into the mix (not sure on whether it's achievable in my budget), a colour called Dark Fantasy:

Off to see the bodyshop (and dave the trimmer next door) on Monday to have a look at some spray cards of the Topaz/Spectraflair as that's what the insurance is covering. Both Reflex Charcoal and Dark Fantasy are coming out at a fair bit more expensive so i'll have to work out the difference in costs, along with what dave can offer/suggest on the interior.

At this stage, it's most likely it'll be spectraflair topaz. Keeps the car original, whilst stops me spending any more money, however there's a niggling part of me that wants to change just for the sake of change!

Tovie.. I can see your point about the dark fantasy just looking black most of the time, and that was one of my concerns too as the current topaz/gold pearl always looks great even in dull light so i'm not sure if i'd miss that. It would look good on those sunny days though scratchchin

So, time for an update. We had the opportunity to see the car out in the sunshine yesterday so thought we'd take a few pics even though it's not quite ready to be back on the road yet.

After numerous samples, we ended up going for a basecoat using Ferrari Avio met, and then adding 3 coats of Spectraflair Lite pigment. This spectraflair lite is 1/10th of the cost of the original stuff and very much more subtle in its colour change and effect, which is just what we were after. That said, the effect comes up even less in the pics than in the flesh. Although not necessarily the plan, we've ended up quite close to the original colour, but with a deeper blue.
I can honestly say we were gobsmacked with how good this looks out in the sun, it makes the crystal topaz seem very washed out in comparison.

Just want it back on the road now cry
