I'm no engineer, so keep it simple please! Looking at RV8 engined cars and this does get mentioned. Which cars are and which cars aren't and what is the benefit in layman's language? smile

So a 450 engine is likely to be more robust than an early 500 engine then?

Yes and the Rangie 4.6 is the most robust, cross bolted and bigger journals.
Don't they tend to suffer from a cracked engine block?
