Currently stuck on a closed M25 due overturned wagon with a rapidly failing clutch. Hopefully a bit of left foot pumping once we finally get on the move will get me the 40 miles home frown

Original clutch just managed to crack 60k.
Not been a great week, had a blowout on the F-Pace on Monday so wallet is taking a bit of a battering.

Getting in in gear was the problem, did work pumping the clutch for a while but only made it to the exit slip before it gave up and went flat to the floor. Now arguing with recovery company who say my policy is not active in their system despite their customer portal website saying it is.

Finally managed to get the recovery booked, apparently the contact number for recovery on their website isn’t the correct one, they’ve changed call centre agents.....

Got it safely on the low loader after a 3 hour wait. Could be the slave as there was some weeping noticed at the service a month ago but as the clutch has got 60k on it I might as well get the whole lot done at the same time. Just the additional expense of the lightweight flywheel to ponder. Been an expensive week with £700 on tyres for the Jag too....and it’s only Wednesday rolleyes

£2,017 later, all now back on the road with the clutch pedal feeling more like one than a brake pedal.

It did confirm the clutch was the original from 2003 and despite the 60k it actually wasn't all that worn and all fingers were intact. Slave was pretty done for though. Lightweight flywheel was worth doing at the same time, more responsive spin-up and no shenanigans at setting off, don't know why TVR didn't fit them at build.

Parts for mine were near identical if its any comfort?
its not stopped p*ss!ing down since I picked mine up, it actually felt the same as before it failed spectacularly. I should've got a pic of the fingerless diaphragm. its a wonder it functioned at all.
I couldn't find any information in my file that it'd ever been replaced but mine had only done 30k miles. frown
The lead tech where I get mine looked after said they originally sold replacement diaphragms but stopped years ago, presumably as AP cottoned on to the fact they could sell a whole clutch assembly. Not sure if that diaphragm weakness was a function of the TVR installation or poor design.

The upside is a slave cylinder doesn't cost much at all and its a quick fix.
Not really when the gearbox has to come out and whilst you're in there you might as well take a proactive view on the clutch if its not been very recently changed. It seems to be a dilemma quite a few of us have faced recently. Mine was a no-brainer with 60k on it even though the slave was the root cause.
