Hi folks.

I'd be keen to know/hear of any positive experiences of claims with RH Specialists or ERS/Equity Red Star

The backstory:

Insurance renewal time coming up.
Currently with RH Specialists/Equity Red Star. Been with them a few years, and in terms of cover have given me exactly what I need in terms of agreed value, storage, type use (which for me includes personal business miles) etc. Never had any issues with them, they haven't hiked the price up each year, but... never had cause to claim. Clearly the real test of an insurance co is when you do need to claim, and how it is handled,

Seriously considering Millbrook TVRCC event this year - I went the last time back in 2015 and had to take out separate cover as you don't get track day/car club event cover with ERS (unlike Classicline, Mannings etc, which does include it)

Currently umming and erring whether to pay more, for a policy that does include this (eg Mannings/Classicline etc), or stick with RH, and take out a separate cover for Millbrook, like I did in 2015.

Looking at insurance reviews - they tend to be 'pretty dire' for ERS.. but then if look at reviews for most insurers and they tend to look bad (people only tend to post negative experiences)

So with this in mind, I'd like to ask if any of you have positive experiences of dealing with ERS, or RH Specialists?

Thoughts appreciated many thanks :-)

NB - happy to also take messages/PMs if there are things you would say, but cannot due to name/shame rules

Ok, very odd!
Something seems broken, communication wise there...

I think its trying to understand what they were like in the event of a claim is where I'm struggling

Have a look at Footman James. They covered me for Milbrook and also parade laps at Spa at the classic.

Everything you could want for insurance is covered as an option, such as guaranteed value, salvage, track use, club events etc.
Hi - unfortunately when I spoke to them last year they could not cover me for personal business use.

With two young toddlers, most of the opportunity I get to drive the car is when I have a client meeting somewhere, the sun is shining, and I decide to take the Tiv instead of the daily......
RH were able to provide me all of that, except the car club event/Millbrook cover....

Can't speak for ERS but id seriously think about spending a little more and going for manning's.
I had a big claim on my old t350 a few years back and they (and the underlying insurer) were amazing. The repairing garage screwed up my paint work so badly manning's helped get a full back to gel coat respray at surface and design at a cost of just over 10k, this was on top of the original 18k repair by the other so called tvr specialist.
You'll also get the track day cover you need included. Price is not the only factor in choosing insurance.
HI Zippee, thanks for this.
Just to be clear - its not about the quote value.

RH I have found (aside from the track/car club event) to be very good is providing me exactly what I need, down to oddities in storage, use etc (ie being able to use it for personal business use) etc. Plus they don't try to take the biscuit with a price hike each renewal.... (Which is worth a lot) - hence I've been with them for number of year (prior to that - ManningUK of all people :-) )

What I missing is reference data on what they are like to claim.
Having had considerable work completed on the car over the last couple of years, the agreed value, and ensuring the will honour this, as well as accomodating my specific needs.

It may be that being a "Millbrook year" (And having the go-ahead from OH to go - :-) swings it on the basis of included cover, as opposed to taking a separate policy

If you google - (ERS - not RH) frankly does not look good. Buit th

Horses for Courses, I've used both, currently with RH, the policy I have includes class 1 business use, UK & European recovery, agreed value and, cherished salvage (if the car is written off, you get both the value and the vehicle). When I was with Mannings they did offer track cover and agreed value but non of the other benefits.
And this was one of the reasons I stuck with RH - basically gave me exactly what i wanted, and the track day elements was a non-issue.

Really planning to do some of the TVR stuff this year so have gone with Mannings, and then review for next year.

Hello,

This is Emma, Head of RH (I have only just joined the Forum today!). I have read the various comments on this thread re RH with interest and would be delighted to hear from you a couple of weeks ahead of your next renewal date if you have any queries re RH's cover / benefits, etc. I personally own a 1969 Tuscan (lightweight-bodied) so I'm not just 'a suit' - I'm a genuine petrolhead, too.

With best wishes,

Emma Airey

Hello emma. It would be good to see a pic of your TVR..
Also good to know we have a company with specialist TVR Knowledge when renewal time comes around.

Neil.
Hi Emma,

Not due until Feb/March, but will bear in mind,

KR
