Have another TVR owner who needs info on 5000M so he can get homologation to be able to race a 5000M. Were these cars actually a production car from TVR or were they built by the owners like what Jack Griffin in the U.S. did to the Grantura to make the original Griffiths?? Any factory proof that these cars existed, press releases or any paperwork on said cars would be greatly appreciated.

So you are saying that the 5000M is not a true production model. That it is just like any other V8 conversion car out on the streets at the moment. Was John Wadman in Toronto Canada the only person to do this modification???

Yes I know about some of the cars being DIY. John Buzzard in Montreal has a 3000M that was done by a previous owner but I think John did the actual work.
Both our 78 and 79 were conversions done by John Wadman. Wonder if anyone on the other side of the pond tried to copy what Wadman did.

Hi norm.
Nice replica Griff. Also thanks for the info and will pass it along. I do have to get ahold of John Wadman again as I still need to obtain more info on our 2 Taimars that he converted. We know that our 78 Taimar was converted to the V8 with the cooperation of TVR Engineering and to be registered as a 5000M for the Canadian market. Hopefully our 79 has the same set up. That would be nice to have that type of paperwork for others to view at show and shines or car shows.

Hello All:
Thanks for all the input on this subject. The fellow TVR owner who asked me about any info that I may have to help him get homologation for the 5000Ms to race, is Jos Wymeersch in Belguim. His e-mail is tvrtrident@skynet.be and if you have info that might help him, then please send it to him. All info should be sent as it just might be the piece that does the trick to help him race and stay competitive with next years group of racers. It just might help keep the TVR name up and running for the next generation to follow.

Marshall: Once again I see you pop out of the woodwork ( No pun intented. ) and help. I owe you an e-mail about progress on the Spousal Units Taimar and I have questions about this years Woodwork. When I get to the jobsite later today I will send e-mail from truck.

Richard,
I am confused. I have John's original(first) 2500M demonstrator. It sported a 6 cylinder engine until I started the slowest conversion ever a few years ago.
I know that John received numerous V6 and I6 M series cars as well as some without eng/trans. Are you saying that he used a 2500M demonstrator for the basis of his first 5000M?
Also, in subsequent years, some owners asked John and Doug to convert their existing cars to 5000M spec. In addition, John built one 5000M for himself. It was a gorgeous black machine and, if I remember correctly, was sold to Sweden even before it was completed.

Yes the black beauty as I was told by Doug did go to Sweden. I have heard from another source that it was the car featured in the famous accident article with the truck but I have never had that confirmed by Doug or John. It is one of the questions that I plan to ask down the road as I have plans to do a poster about the V8 TVRs and will include it and The Pumpkin along with our 2 V8 Taimars and any others that we can get info on.

Henrick: If your car is the black one that John did, then I have heard stories about it from the horse's mouth. It is a shame that we are on opposite sides of the pond. We have a slightly built 302 Tamiar with an automatic for the Spousal to drive and a 302 Taimar stroked to a 347. It would be nice to compare all 3 but that is not possible with that little bit of water between us. We can be reached at:

Marshall: Derek from Sprint sent e-mail to me about that very subject as he is willing to do legwork to fill in any blanks that we have on the 5000M subject. Will have to talk at or after Woodwork.Have you heard if Doug or John will be attending???

Hi John: Yes somebody was going to ask you. Hope you are feeling fine and doing well. Marshall and I both were going to get ahold of you after Woodwork about the 5000 series cars. I have misplaced your number but I was going to get it again from Marshall or SportsCarParts when I see Todd.
I am still interested in any info you have on our 2 Taimars. (#4283FM & #4387FM.)I can send you a copy of the letter that you made for Joe Morotta as I would like a copy for each car if possible. When I call you, we can set up billing for your time as discussed at a previous time as you deserve to get paid for your time.
