Dear All,

Some of you may know Angus MacDougall as the organiser of the TVRCC ROAR events over the last few years?

I'm afraid that I have the rather upsetting news to tell you. Angus has just been diagnosed with Brain Cancer. He has asked me to let all of this TVR friends know.

He had been suffering from headaches for quite a while bad had put this down to a long term back pain issue he had suffered from an old karting accident. It is in a rather difficult place to operate, being at the top of the spinal column/base of the brain, but the surgeons think its worth a go to remove it. Angus didn't say what the prognosis was, but Angus being Angus said, 'if I'm paralysed, I'm getting the TVR converted to an Auto!' He's going into surgery a week on Wednesday.

If the above wasn't enough bad news...Carmen, Angus' wife, is due for their third child on the 27th of December and Angus will still be recovering from the surgery when she is likely to give birth.

I am a strong believer in positive thoughts and energy so with Angus' approval, I've set up this topic and another on the TVRCC website where people can express their best wishes and words of encouragement.

Regards,

Martin Pett

I got an email from Angus expessing his thanks for all the lovely words of encourangement and support this thread has generated. He was very moved.

He said that he was having to go into hospital yesterday, earlier than expected for emergency surgery. I don't know what this means, but he needs all of our positive thoughts and prayers right now. Am crossing every finger and toe hoping that he comes out the other side and gets back to full fitness. He's too nice a chap to depart this world this early on in his life, and he needs to show his new son the TVR way!

Thanks again for all the fantastic words and thoughts you guys have written.

He went in for an emergency operation on Thursday. I haven't heard anything yet. If all went to plan he'll be recovering now so I wasn't expecting contact for a while.. I'll text Carmen tomorrow to get an update.

Text just recieved from Carmen that she wanted me to pass on:

Angus is now in intensive care. He has had a five hour op and after some tests seems to have responded well. The next 24 hrs he will be monitored closely. They took just over 90% of the tumour out as rest of it was too dangerous to move. Biopsy results in 7-10 days. He's been awake altho in pain and bit groggy. I will visit Thurs when he's compus mentus. So far so good he shld be home in time for baby. Love carmem

Was going to visit Angus today but he has been sent home! smile

From the texts from Carmen she has said that he is ok but has one hell of a headache! They have removed 90% of the tumour and it is going to be sent to a lab for biopsy. (not sure if that's spelt correctly.

Carmen has also had a baby boy. So from the sounds of it they should all be home for new years which is just great. Will let everyone know more info when I get it.

Cheers,
Martin

Just been round to see the big man and am pleased to report that he is recovering well. His speach and sight have been affected by the operation but they are comming back. There is a long road to recovery but he is optimistic. He said how wonderfull all the support from you guys was and how it helped him through what was the most diffcult experience of his life. So THANK YOU guys. You can't understand how much it meant to him! He is spending most days on the sofa recovering and chilling with his new baby boy (Daniel).

Although limitied in what he can do for now, he is already plannig his return to TVR's and is planning to be driven in his V8 LS engined TVR Criff to Chatsworth in April (unfortunatley he won't be able to drive himself for a while).
