Cleaning Brake Pistons

I am refurbing some brembo brakes and there is some residue crud on a couple of pistons as per:



I know these have a coating on so I am geussing fine emery cloth is out of the question. Are they servicable ie how can I clean it off, will a non metalic fibre pad be ok or are they scrap? Can i use 0000 wire wool and get them recoated? The white line is a reflection not a scratch!

Thanks - Managed to clean most off using a scourer but not happy that the finish isn't compromised so I will replace the offending items.
