Hi, still stuck on this and desperate for anyone's help. I've fitted new struts, bearings, bumps and top mountsbut getting a strange sort of pop sound from the front n/s. New drop links and ball joints also fitted. So I've come to the conclusion and reading up on similar that I've notligned up the top mount and bearing. The question is how or what direction do they face ?
This is my old mount and bearing

My Haynes is of no use. The bearing has a small bobble and the top mounts have no arrows, just two rubble bobbly bits sticking out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks
Jim

I see your point e-BMW, any ideas regarding the bearing. The knobbly bit sticking out id have though wolf face into the car inline with the hub alignment strip

It was a bit of both really and how they should sit in relation to the car. Unfortunately when I removed the original strut the bearing collapsed and ball bearings went everywhere so I have no way of knowing how the original bearings and mount were

I see why you mean , thank you. The bit that's now puzzling me is the bearing.
Notice there's a bit sticking out. Haynes stated it has to line up and face a certain direction but doesn't state what lol. Good old Haynes

Thanks paintman. I even gone to fords directly and although they kindly emailed a diagram it doesn't show the certain aligning bits

I'm not sure I'm being too clear on what I am saying as not good at this. Basically the top bearing on mine has an allignment bit sticking out. I'm told if this is not lined up then it will cause issues. For instance the mustang has the following ( see photo )
If I'm to follow this set up I'm to line it up with the bit tha slots into the lower knuckle. I hope that make sense.
