Hi all, now the brakes are sorted with drilled discs, new pads and goodridge lines, I'm looking at the suspension.

Lots of choice out there, bilstein, avo, spax and koni etc commonly offering a choice of -30mm or -55mm lowering. Anyone had experience of these setups? I'm after a spring and damper kit for all four corners and what to trackday and commute in the pug. Not worried about it being too firm on the road, I can live with that but I'm thinking the less extreme of -30mm is probably the best compromise. Anyone recommend a reseller; I'm looking at DZDesign at the moment....the adjustable konis are: www.dcdezign.com/details.asp?item=SSK9&vehicle_ref=281

I've been told that spax is just nasty maxpower stuff and that bilstein or nitron is the way ahead if costs is not a factor, or koni / avo for us lesser motals. Any comments?

Cheers Denis, Nitron do not appear to do a set for pugs and so I expect it will be the konis. I'll tell you how it comes on!

Thanks stew,

I'm fairly decided now upon a set of Avo coilovers. Height and damper adjustable (less height on the rear due to the torsion bar). As I have done about 3.5K on the std suspension and people have done 124K on it before me, I'm hoping to notice some improvement!!!

Anyone else test suspension on the road from Islip to Arncott (near Bicester)?

Disaster!

The Avo coilovers are on the way, but will not be fitted in time for Castle Commbe on the 11th! I suppose it will be a good way of testing the before and after!!

I can only find a Gaz kit for £440 on ebay, and those bilstein shocks sound great but I have ordered the Avo ones now. As I said, they won't be on the car for Weds at CC, but probably work out for the best. I'll hopefully some good footage as it is (with times) and then be able to compare with the Avo setup and better brakes.

We'll see, I post some pics of the Avos and again once they are on. Cheers for the advice all!

Terror,

Do you have problems with 'speed humps'? With the AVO setup I have to drive very carefully over them as the front will bottom out quite easily?

Stronger springs perhaps?
