Replaced the rear brake discs and pads on a Passat. Wound the pistons right back. Lubed the slider pins. Lubed the pad edges in the calliper carriers. Refitted everything. Calipers freely slide. But as soon as brakes are applied the pads don’t come completely away from the discs they rub slightly. Pretty sure this normally happens on my cars but on this one it’s so bad I can hear the rubbing sound constantly while driving.

The Passat doesn’t seem to have metal sliders like my other cars.

Is this normal???

Did you clean the disc braking surface thoroughly before fitting?
Yes. Everything cleaned up

does the wheel spin by hand easily? slight touching is normal /cant turn the wheel isnt
Yes spins fine just slight touching, never had the same on my other cars though.

I think I sorted the issue by filing the calliper carriers rather than just sanding with high grit, and caking them in copper grease and it seems to have done the job now.
