Hi

I've bought a new astra recently. Just this past week I've started to notice a little side play in the brake pedal.

When I engage my foot with my pedal I can feel it move sideways very slightly. I've taken it to the dealer and they've advised its normal and nothing to worry about but seeking some reassurance on this as I'm paranoid about it. Is it normal to have a little side play in the pedal?

I've read a lot on the internet about different cars. Can you advise generally if this is normal?

Hi both

Thaks for the reply. I'm guessing that I'm asking if anybody else has experienced this in their own cars?

I've got a 17 plate Astra, I can't say my brake pedal feels sideways so I don't think it sounds normal. My car had a recall on the brakes early this year, but if I'm honest I'm not 100% what the problem is, I do remember that recall only affected diesels, plus a 69 plate you'd assume would not need to be recalled.

I'd ask on here, I've asked a few questions when I've had issues and are generally very helpful.

Thanks for this. I've tried my mums meriva and her brake pedal has slight play also. It doesnt move when driving but if I put my foot on it and it moves you can definitely feel the pedal move slightly I would say less than 1mm. I'm probably paranoid about it. Arnold clark said theres nothing wrong but I spent a lot of money on it and it's less than 3 months old.

Thanks. I think I may be explaining wrong it's not overly too much just very very slight movement. I never even noticed it until I put an older pair of shoes on.

Uve just tried my sisters car which is a ford and there is some slight side to side movement as mine is. My mums has this too in her car. Wondering if I should just get over it given most cars I've compared has very very slight side movement less than a mm.
