I currently use Auto Glym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner to wash my car, then every so often I apply a coat of Auto Glym Super Resin Polish. The Super Resin Polish is supposed to "repel water and protect the paintwork" (as stated on the bottle). When it has stopped raining, I find that the rainwater sits on the paintwork for hours after it stopped raining when everyone else's car is dry. Should this happen? The rainwater sits on the paintwork in droplets just as if it has been sprayed with a hose. I apply the polish as it says, should this happen?

Surely having water sat on my paintwork is really bad for the car? What exactly does Auto Glym Super Resin Polish do for my paintwork?

What waxes etc do you use to protect the paint, rather than having water sat on it for hours after it rained?
