Lithium/Fag lighter hoovers

I have got a mains dyson thing for the house and have an old mains vax which occasionally get wheeled out when doing a "big" clean, but like the idea of a wee hoover just to run around the cars every so often to keep them a bit cleaner - hers is like a mobile gravel skip at times.

Is it better to go 12 volt or battery? Are they a waste of time in general and i'll be cursing they arent mains powered?
