I'm after a little cheap basic spray kit that I can use to touch up little scratches etc. on my race car. I have used proper commercial kit in the past but am after something small & basic this time to use at home without spending too many beer tokens!

Air brush or rattle-can, or another full compressor and spray gun set-up?

What is the biggest panel size that you are considering spraying on the race car?

If just small panels, to cover scuffs etc, then one of those air brush kits might be more logical.
That's based solely on my assumption that you are worried about consistent colour coverage and not a deep showroom shine.

Yep Lidl and Aldi do compressors and spray kits, they do a whole range of air tools actually so it's worth doing. I don't think their compressors are big enough for a full respray but good enough for odd jobs.

You have to catch the air stuff when they have it in, but at this time of year they have more tools than usual.

Ideally complete kit, just for little areas really. The gun looks good but not sure I want to have to buy everything separately! I did wonder if an airbrush kit would do the job?

^^^^^I use one for primers.
I've also had a play with it with basecoats (solvent & water) & 2k clears & whilst it's not in the same league as the Sata & Iwata guns I use it's perfectly capable for SMART type repairs.
Go for HVLP gravity feed guns - less air needs than suction feeds.
