Safest most convenient way to clean a vinyl wrap?

Can anyone suggest the best way to clean a vinyl wrap? I’ve bought a new car and it’s wrapped in matte black, I’m still unsure on the best way to clean it.. I took it for it’s windows tinted at a place where they do car wraps and the bloke doing it told me to use window cleaner and just wipe it off with a microfibre clothe, I went ahead and gave it a go as bizarre as it sounded to me and it resulted in my car being left with white stains all over it, i panicked and zoomed to the hand car wash and luckily it came clean. Since that I’ve just been using warm water and a clothe. Is their any other products I can use such as a spray for a waterless clean or am I better off just using water?
