Right guys got my hands on a Carbon fibre Oettinger style spoiler for my golf R. Seems a lot of people are happy to 3m tape it, I was also considering this as I like the idea of it being reversible should I change my mind or when I come round to selling car. Only problem is I worry it might fly off or some toe rag might pinch of my car, seeing as it’s a boy racers wet dream.

Been recommended tiger seal, anyone had much luck using but for such purpose? Does it last, is it strong? Is it reversible at all? Would it be a nightmare removing spoiler off should I have a change in heart? And finally what colour do I go for- Black, white or grey? And what’s the differences between them all?

Many thanks

Cheers for responses guys, so the colour differences in product are purely just different colours nothing else? no material type or strength difference etc? I’m half worried to do it now as it a permanent fix, the cars black and the spoilers carbon, ideally I should’ve went for a gloss black hmmm. Unfortunately I don’t have room for the car in my garage, so would be left outdoors- I’d obviously avoid a rainy day etc but would it be okay if I did one morning and left for 12 hours or so? Where can I source this stuff Halfords, ECP?

Thanks for input guys, there’s no way I’ll be able to keep it indoors, once applied would going round with my trusty pet dryer be of any help in the drying process? It’s not a problem leaving the car sat for 24 hours and I’d probably tape it down so it holds once the tigers applied, but the garage is a right mess would take hours clearing it up. I will trial fit it with some double sided tape or pads and see how I feel about it before I commit. Also purchased the carbon mirrors to match up with the spoiler so I’ve already half committed, d’oh!

Haha hardly a Ferrari mate. Bought some tiger seal Black this morning along with some paint prep degreasing type wipes from Halfords. Decided I’m going to give the car a nice wash as it’s filthy and then degrease roof area and just go for it. I’ll tape it down once Donegal around with a pet dryer and then I’ll probably let the car sit for at least 24hours or so before moving. I figured due to the nature of the spoilers design any wind will pass through its gaps and hopefully some down force of wind pressure can only help it attach further down onto the body, provided a link of what the Exactly spoiler in question, what you guys think? Is my theory correct? Or is it a recipe for disaster??

Adhesive promotor? Is that like a glue of some sort? Wow 11 years and still going strong, pretty impressive mate. Is yours a lip or a spoiler? Can see 3m being fine with a lip, a proper spoiler might need abit more encouragement I think? Why on earth would someone steel your chrome mirror caps, here’s me replacing mine with carbon ones to match up with the carbon spoiler, there only 20/30 quid used lol what does mark up mean? I assume you mean just trail fit it and mark a point with masking tape on either Edge? There’s actually a trim line on the roof which is also on the spoiler so I think if I line that up correct on both sides I shouldn’t be far off

Ah gotcha mate, I popped into ECP yesterday and screw to source some isopropyl and no joy, seems like amazon and eBay is the place to get them. I got these wipes from Halfords however, states it cleans, de greases and de contaminates, provided a Link

Attempted this morning got fed up with the bloody thing sitting around in a box for months. Boy did I make a a right mess of it and chose the wrong day as it started drizzling with rain shortly after lol. So cleaned prepped area with isopropanol, thought I had a syringe/glue dispenser type thing (don’t know the exact word for it) lying about but couldn’t find the bloody thing d’oh!! I was then left pasting the bloody thing on lol just attempted eyeballing it and glued it on. Left the car all day and revisited when I got back a while ago. seems perfect-ish on one corner, the other corner is a few mm diff to the side which was flush, can see a few mm gap but it’s nothing drastic I can live with it. The middle part on the front however isn’t a great, can see it’s not completely held down( think I didn’t put enough tiger seal on it, back end seems fine and I’ve pressed firmly on it for a while and seems okay-ish! Only prob is the weather starting to play silly bugger again lol oh that and I’ve got black tiger seal all over my hands and it doesn’t wash off. What a right bell end am I ;( lol I did order 4/5 packs of various sized 3m tape from amazon, but they just didn’t seem up to the task, I even went round and trial fitted strips of it on the undeside of the spoiler but just peeled off with ease
