So, what actually DOES clean the inside of the windscreen ?

The sun shines and the inside of the windscreen is STILL smeared !!! (expletive).
I have tried..., house window cleaner, kitchen surface cleaner, chamois leather, vinegar, proprietary windscreen cleaner, nail polish remover, neat windscreen wash concentrate just to list a few. ...... and it is still smeary in the sunlight.
It does not help that it slopes away and the dash top is long and broad so getting a good, even hand pressure to clean is not easy but even so .......
So what am I doing wrong ? How do I clean the smears that seem totally resistant to everything ?

Thanks everyone, a mountain of ideas there.
I have used paper towel but also fresh washed household duster (yes, plus fabric conditioner) so I'll get a couple of micro fibre cloths and try again. It's partly a real pain to get good , even pressure over the whole screen.
