Took delivery of some new cleaning kit today - some fallout remover and a new foam gun. Shame it turns out I'd binned my foam

Anyway, wanted to try out the fallout remover (autoglym) so washed our Superb and set about it. Fairly sure I used too much - it said to use liberally but I'm sure I got through half a bottle  Anyone got any pointers on this stuff?

Anyway, I got carried away and then decided to clay it. Which obvs then meant I might as well wax it - the trusty old Collinite 915 I've had for probably 10yrs or so. I love it because it sets hard as nails which is great as it's fairly dusty here at the mo with building works next door. Its just a fecker if you don't buff it off before it sets completely.

Whilst it looks pretty good, there's some odd streaks on the bonnet. I actually clayed it twice and gave it another wash but they won't shift. No idea what it is and it probably needs polishing out. No other panels like it. Not sure you can see it from this pic but it almost looks like someone's dragged their fingers through a dusty bonnet.

We had it ceramic coated when new (by a proper detailer not the dealer) so I'm wondering if maybe it's deteriorated in some way? Any ideas anyone?

At least it looks shiny from a distance

Ceramic was a Gyeon product I believe. From reading about it seems like most typically last a couple of years, and it was just over 2yrs ago it was done. I've not waxed it since either - it's had nothing more than a wash since it was done 2 years ago.

The streaks were there before washing as well, so I'm fairly sure nothing to do with the clay bar. I suspect I'll need to get the DAS out and give it a pass at some point.

It's an odd one. If someone told me it hadn't been prepped properly (be it cleaned or old product etc) before the coating had just been applied I could well believe it. But it was lliterally driven from the dealership to the detailer, and these streaks have only appeared in the last month or two I'd say.

Non ferrous fallout from the building works next door? We have a nearby development and the fine silica dust and cement dust that lands on the car has to be seen to be believed - and that's in the garage!
Certainly looks like some sort of contamination that will need polished out. A mild abrasive paint cleanser may work without significantly affecting the coating. Out of curiosity what product do you wash it with?

It could be I guess. That's been going on now for 9-10mo, and we've had our own works during the same period. I wash with Gyeon Bathe. I might crack out the Meguiars #205 and the DAS then at some point and just go over the bonnet with a light pass.
