I could't believe the difference recently after purcahasing a Mercedes SLK 320 and was quoted $720 by my insurance company, wher I have another car insured, for an agreed value. Out of curiosity I decided to shop around, and immediately found another company who bettered it by $100 and astounded to fins a third company who insured the car for $472....a saving of $200 on an agreed value. I couldn't believe the difference, all by large well known companies. It certainly pays to shop around.

The quote of $720 was from the RACV and the quote of $472 was from APIA. The excess of $500 and all other details were the same.

What am I talking about ? I shouldn't reply to questions when I've been on the sauce. The figures on my original post are corect......RACV $720.....APIA $472.

Just got a shock ! My insurance company wher I have a Mercedes and a Jaguar insured refused to insure my new car a 1984 Ferrari 308 GTS . So I went to Shannons who not only were happy to insure the car but couldn't believe the low premium. They only insure on agreed value which was $70,000 and the premium was an unbelievably low $595 !I'm selling the Mercedes a 2003 SLK 320 in top condition for $25000......any takers ?It cost me $40,000 less than a year ago.

XB70 Thanks I'll keep it in mind..trouble is I live up near Swan Hill...already talked to the Victorian Ferrari Club but they never organise rallies this far from Melbourne.
