Good morning PH,

I shall be landing in Perth next Thursday, and aim to get a car as soon as possible.

Being completely alien to purchasing vehicles in Australia, I'm open to advice. I feel fairly confident over here in Blighty having worked in the trade but I don't know the in's and out's over yonder.

I am aware cars do not need an annual "check" as such, which leads me to believe there may be some absolute dogs in the classifieds. I know "rego" and I know the third party (injury only?) state insurance as I have been over several times. Is it worth getting fully comp (or at minimum third party damage)

In terms of transferring ownership, do I need to apply for anything prior to buying or will my English licence, passport and address details suffice? I have a permanent address already as I have family out there.

Also any suggestions on actual vehicles would be great. I would love an AWD / 4x4 of some description, budget of around $5,000-$7,000. I have seen many Ford Territory's for sale (which I believe are Aus built) but know nothing of reliability. A small camper would be ideal (same budget) Again, seen a few converted Hiaces with moon miles on.

Thank you, and if anybody is in Perth drop me a message!
